Dominic Morales

Dominic MoralesDominic Morales is Professor and Dean of the Applied Sciences & Recreation Division at Delhi College. The programs within this Division are Golf/Plant Sciences, Natural Resources, Recreation and Sports, and Veterinary Science Technology. He teaches and coordinates the internship program for Golf Course and Turf management. He was instrumental in developing the Golf Course Operations program, and the Bachelors in Golf and Sports Turf Management program at Delhi. He also coordinated the development and funding for the new Turf Education Center, and the additional nine holes at the Delhi College Golf Course. Dean Morales received an Associate in Applied Science degree in Horticulture from SUNY Farmingdale, a Bachelor in Science in Plant Science from the University of New Hampshire, and a Master of Science in Horticulture from the University of Connecticut. He is a past recipient of the New York State Turfgrass Association Citation of Merit Award, and the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.

 

Birgitta Brophy, RLA

Birgitta BrophyBirgitta Brophy, Associate Professor, is a registered landscape architect. She has been teaching at Delhi since 1997. Ms. Brophy typically instructs in the areas of graphics, landscape design and site engineering although she has been a part of the horticulture and site development classes. In addition, she is a faculty advisor to the Horticulture Club which is also a student chapter of the Professional Landcare Network. Ms. Brophy is on the Education Committee of the Empire State Green Industry Show, the Delhi College Beautification Committee, a member of the American Horticultural Society and New York Botanical Garden.  Ms. Brophy received an A.A.S. degree in Landscape Management from SUNY Cobleskill and a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

 

Ben McGraw, PhD.

Ben McGrawDr. Ben McGraw joined the State University of New York College at Delhi in the spring of 2009 as an assistant professor. He is responsible for teaching Introductory and Advanced Turfgrass Management, Irrigation Design, Irrigation Installation and Maintenance, Horticultural Entomology, Golf Course Planning & Design, and Golf Course Financial Management and Budgeting. Dr. McGraw holds a Master’s degree in Entomology from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Ph.D. in Entomology from Rutgers University, where he was a USGA Green Section intern. Dr. McGraw maintains an active research program at Delhi, focusing on reducing chemical inputs in turf through biological and cultural tactics. Currently, Dr. McGraw serves as Delhi’s liaison on the New York State Turfgrass Association.

 

Kathleen Gillooley

Kathleen GillooleyKathleen Gillooley is currently an instructor in the Applied Sciences division. She joined the Delhi College Community as an Instructional Support Associate in 1989. She teaches courses in woody plant identification, maintenance, and installation as well as landscape construction. During this time she has served as the advisor to both the Turf and Horticulture Clubs, was awarded the Student Life Leadership Award. Ms Gillooley is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Delhi having received her Associate in Applied Science degree and has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cornell University both in Plant Science-Landscape Horticulture. She is currently a member of the Professional Landcare Network, Golf Course Superintendent Association of America, the International Society of Arboriculture, the New York State Turfgrass Association, the New York State Nursery and Landscape Association, State University of New York Horticulture Education Committee and is a New York State Licensed Pesticide Applicator.

 

Steven Tait

Steve TaitAssistant Professor Tait comes to the Golf and Plant Science Programs with a diverse background that allows him to teach facility and equipment management courses. Mr. Tait is responsible for: Grounds Equipment and Fleet Management; Sharpening and Grinding; and Maintenance Facility Management courses. He has been a guest speaker at numerous industry conferences. On campus Mr. Tait is the faculty advisor to the Victory and Praise Choir (student club). Mr. Tait received his Master of Arts degree in Educational Technology and Curriculum Development from the University of Phoenix and his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University. Mr. Tait is a certified ASE Master Automotive Technician, member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and the New York State Turfgrass Association.

 

Charles Tarrants, Ph.D.

Charles TarrantsDr. Charles Tarrants, is a Professor in the Golf and Plant Science Program. A veteran of 20 plus years teaching such horticultural subjects as Soils, Weeds, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Herbaceous Ornamentals, Woody Plants and Pesticides. Dr. Tarrants is an occasional speaker for Trade Shows, Garden Clubs and similar venues.  Dr. Tarrants received a Bachelor of Science from Western Kentucky University, a Master of Science from the University of Denver, and his doctorate from Syracuse University.

 

 

Tom Holdrege

Tom HoldregeTom Holdrege is an Instructional Support Associate with the Golf Plant Science Department. He has been a department staff member since 2000 assisting in equipment, construction, horticulture, turf and irrigation related classes. In addition he is manager of the Turf Education Center’s facilities and department equipment. Mr. Holdrege is a member of The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and The Irrigation Association. He is a Certified Golf Course Irrigation Auditor.  Mr. Holdrege is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Delhi with an Associate of Applied Science in Turf Management.

 

 Julia Ward

Julia WardJulia Ward is an Instructional Support Associate who assists in the Horticulture, Turf and Landscape classes in the Golf and Plant Sciences Department. Additionally, Ms. Ward is the Greenhouse Facility Manager and teaches greenhouse production. She is also the Internship Coordinator for the 2 and 4 year Turf students serving as the liaison between students and employers. Ms. Ward is an advisor to both the Turf Club and the Horticulture Clubs, an active member on the Delhi College Beautification Committee, Professional Landcare Network and the community 4-H club. Ms. Ward is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Delhi, having received her Associate in Applied Science degree in Landscape Contracting.
