Bachelor of Technology Degree
Do you dream of designing buildings or being part of a team that does? Our program features hands-on performance in studios and labs that support classroom theory. Because we offer both the AAS and BT, you have many available options. Complete the AAS and go to work in the architectural industry, for engineering or construction firms, for government agencies or building product manufacturers, or earn your design intensive pre-professional BT as preparation for graduate study, or for direct employment in the architectural field at an increased level of responsibility.
The Bachelor of Technology Architectural program at SUNY Delhi has a special focus: not only on the design, but on the building and construction of structures. The program is a blend of architecture, construction, liberal arts, mathematics, and science courses. By completing courses in building and construction techniques, you will have a professional advantage over students with just an art and design background. As a graduate, you can go on for a master’s degree, or you can go to work for architectural firms, construction companies, government agencies and corporations.
This degree is a 2+2 arrangement with Delhi's A.A.S. degree program in Architectural Technology. If you are a graduate of another associate's degree program in Architecture, you are welcome to apply for admission.
Admissions Requirements
Portfolio Submission
A portfolio of creative design work is critical to being admitted into the program. Work such as photography, graphic design, interior design, sketching, writing, painting, sculpture, architectural models and renderings, etc. may be included. Construction drawings are not encouraged for inclusion. Work done for an employer may only be used if the work is the applicant's original design and it is at the schematic level, i.e. study models, sketches, renderings. Applicants must detail their personal involvement in any group work included in the portfolio. Portfolios will be evaluated on the basis of drawing and design ability, original ideas, and craftsmanship. From 10 to 12 samples of work should be included.
Reviewers will look both at the content of the portfolio and at the way the portfolio itself is put together. Applicants should be conscious of the layout, text formatting, cover art, and method of binding as these are the primary components used in framing and presenting one's work. The portfolio should be no larger than 8½” X 11” and must contain printed material only (no slides or CDs). A vita and brief statement of intent should also be included. All projects should be labeled with titles, dates, and any other relevant information.
Portfolio submissions should be sent, along with an application, to:
