Do you dream of becoming a golf professional?  We’ll provide you with fabulous facilities and teachers to assist in reaching your goal.  Our 18 hole golf course, driving range, practice green and indoor facility are just the elements you need to start your professional golf career.  You’ll also learn the business end of golf, how to conduct swing analysis, organize tournaments, and repair clubs and carts.  Courses in merchandising, business planning, and inventory management prepare you for the many careers within the golf industry - an industry bigger than Hollywood!

The Professional Golf Management (PGM) program at SUNY Delhi is the only one of its kind to be registered by SUNY and the New York State Education Department. The program awards a B.B.A. in Professional Golf Management and provides graduates with the training necessary to compete for the many exciting employment opportunities within the golf industry (traditional club professional, teaching professional, merchandiser, club repair and fitting expert, equipment manufacturer’s sales representative, tournament organizer and many more).

The curriculum offers golf specific courses like Golf Club Repair and Design, The Rules of Golf, Tournament Operations, Introduction to Teaching, Swing Analysis and Golf Car Fleet Management. Business related courses such as Merchandising and Inventory Management, Business Planning and Operations, and Human Resource Management for Golf Professionals are also part of the PGM curriculum.  Field trips and guest speakers are used to suppliment the student's educational experience.  The employment opportunities within the field are numerous, and the employment rate for SUNY Delhi graduates who continue in the golf business is 100%.

The college owns and operates a beautiful 18-hole golf course, which serves as an outstanding educational resource for students in our program. Other amenities include a 20 station driving range, a 6,000 square-foot practice green and short game practice area, and a full service pro shop and restaurant. During the winter months, SUNY-Delhi students can work on their game and enhance their teaching skills in our 34,000 square-foot Indoor Practice Facility, where ball flight can be observed up to 75 yards away. Playing ability is an important requirement for golf professionals, and the three PGA professionals on staff at SUNY Delhi offer a Player Development program for students preparing to take the Player’s Ability Test (PAT).

All PGM students are required to intern in the industry for a minimum of 16 months, usually during the summer. These internships not only help the student apply their class room education in a practical setting, they pave the way for future employment by providing invaluable networking opportunities.

SUNY Delhi offers significant cost and proximity advantages over other PGM schools. Students receive the same educational material, and player development and internship opportunities, that they do at other PGM schools. The three PGA Professionals on staff have a combined 50 years of field experience, enabling them to relate real-world situations to classroom material.

• Beautifully maintained 18 hole golf course – owned and operated by the Delhi College Foundation, the entire facility serves as an academic laboratory for staff and students of the PGM program as well as all our golf, turf and landscape related programs; it is also a community resource open to the public.
• 34,000 square foot Indoor Practice Facility - another huge asset for off season use; helps students maintain playing ability and to practice golf instructional skills; ball flight can be observed.
• 20 station driving range – ideal for students to work on their game, instructional skills or to just warm up before a round; an additional 113 acres directly adjacent to the 1st tee is owned by the college and could be developed as additional practice space in the future
• 6,000 square foot practice green – a long, undulating green that allows students to practice all types of putts
• Practice bunker and chipping area - great short game practice area including a bunker, fringe, fairway and rough areas from which to practice and teach
• Model Pro Shop managed by qualified PGA Professional – serves as an educational resource for PGM students and is used extensively for that purpose

• Full Service Restaurant – serves as an educational resource for PGM students and is used extensively for that purpose

• Club Repair Lab - students have the opportunity to learn the basics of  club design and repair (regripping, reshafting, loft/lie adjustments, etc.) at the campus facility.
