SUNY Delhi's modern 625-acre campus is comprised of 42 specialized buildings. Many house unique academic programs and highly specialized laboratories. Some deserve special note.
The Veterinary Science Technology program was the first of its type in the United States, and the College continues to be the preeminent program in the nation. The program features instruction in Farnsworth Hall, a highly sophisticated facility that includes a surgical suite, radiography laboratory, and on-site primate colony. A vivarium at the Valley Campus provides students with experience working with live animals, including some exotic species.
The Nursing program offers a seamless curriculum comprised of a one-year certificate in Practical Nursing, a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing, and a fully online four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. LPN-certified students can take a challenge exam to enter the second year of the RN program. In addition, SUNY Delhi, Hartwick College, and Bassett Healthcare have joined forces to provide LPNs an opportunity to continue their education while employed at Bassett.
SUNY Delhi has been producing hospitality industry leaders for over 40 years and offers the most comprehensive menu of associate- and bachelor-degree programs in New York State. The College's Alumni Hall Hospitality Center is a major program asset. This facility features model guest suites, a beverage laboratory, kitchen and dining facilities for a student-operated restaurant, a catering kitchen, and multi-purpose conference rooms and dining areas. The College's Culinary Team has earned the reputation as the Northeast's best, capturing the American Culinary Federation's New York State Championship eight times in the last nine years and the northeast region hot food title four times in last eight years. The teams earned a gold medal at the ACF National Championship in 2003 and silver medals in 2001, 2007, and 2008. Delhi's Culinary Team was also one of only ten teams nationwide to be invited to compete for the Youth Team USA Olympic Tryouts in 2001 and 2007. Delhi's culinary students have also excelled in the individual championships, winning the title of Northeast Region Student Chef of the Year in 2007 and 2008. The College's ice team garnered national recognition recently, finishing third in the 2009 National Ice Carving Association Collegiate National Championships.
Delhi's bachelor- and associate-degree programs in Golf Course Management/Operations are unique. A close alliance with the golf industry makes the College uniquely qualified to offer these training programs for superintendents, assistants, and aspiring golf professionals. Extensive facilities support these programs, including an 18-hole golf course. Students get extensive hands-on experience maintaining this unique facility, as well as in operating the pro shop.
The College also owns the John Lennox Demonstration Forest, a managed plantation and instructional laboratory that includes 185 acres and 20 compartments of varying acreage. This is one of the oldest plantations in New York State and cannot be duplicated anywhere in the Catskill region.
Students in Delhi's building programs get on-the-job experience constructing residential homes. Students have also received commercial building experience by participating in the construction of a laboratory complex for Applied Technologies programs at the College, the Turf Management Center, and the clubhouse at the College Golf Course.
The College's modern Applied Technologies Complex houses programs in Welding; Plumbing, Heating, and Pipefitting; Refrigeration and Air Conditioning; and Electrical Construction and Instrumentation. Automotive Technology facilities are located at the Valley Campus. The College is one of a select group of accredited photovoltaic training sites in the nation.
