Business Administration - AS
The Instructional Program
The Associate in Science (A.S.) program in Business Administration is available for students majoring in Business Administration who wish to transfer the maximum number of credits to a four-year college or university after graduating from Delhi. While enrolled in the A.S. Business Administration program, a student may choose, rather, to earn a one-year certificate in Business Management. This certificate would be primarily for full- or part-time students who, through selected business course work, seek professional improvement or who wish to re-enter the workforce. Students interested in this advisement track should discuss this with their advisor as soon as they are accepted.
Students may participate in the Bronco Investment Group (BIG). The purposes of BIG are to learn and evaluate investment opportunities; acquire knowledge about money; use money to make money; learn to make wise decisions regarding money; and avoid major financial mistakes. BIG uses an online simulator to buy and sell stocks each week at club meetings.
Required courses for the Business Administration program cover a broad range of activities involved in the management of an organization, including courses in accounting, marketing, finance, computer processing, communication, business law, and human relations. Special emphasis is given to developing the analytical and interpersonal skills needed for successful management careers. Students will also have ample opportunity for exposure to computer applications and uses.
The program is designed so that students, in addition to taking required courses, may concentrate on a chosen topical area. These electives broaden graduates' employment opportunities in business, retailing, wholesaling, and service industries.
