Golf Course Management: Superintendent Internships

This program requires internships which provide valuable practical experience.  These internships not only complement classroom learning, they also provide students with networking opportunities for future employment.

Students enrolled in the Golf Course Management: Superintendent BBA degree program must complete an internship during each summer they are enrolled in the program (a total of four internships). The Internship will be full time (40 hours per week), at a facility that is recognized golf course facility, athletic field complex or a related facility.  Each student must be registered in an internship class (TURF 181/182, GMBA 280, 380, 473/474) to receive academic credit.  All internships are completed under the direction and guidance of a faculty advisor along with a qualified manager or mentor at the approved facility. Before a student is placed as an intern, the site must be reviewed and approved by the Internship Coordinator.  All initial and subsequent contact with the host facility will be made by the student with assistance from a faculty advisor.  Students have the opportunity to choose from numerous facilities including country clubs, resorts, public and municipal courses, military golf facilities, athletic field facilities and various related industries. Students must complete all of the internship assignment prior to graduation. By completing internship assignments, students receive on-the-job training and academic credit as outlined in each programs curriculum.

Along with the faculty advisor, the Internship Coordinator will assure that students and employers are submitting the required contracts, evaluations, and other documents on a timely basis.
