In your logbook please include daily detailed information of specific activities that you perform as it relates to outside/inside operations.  Discuss any observations you make or any new information you learned.  Entries need not be long, but they should not be the same sentence for each day worked. Your log book will be turned in with your final report.

Gather the following Information:

*      Golf Course History: Include year built, architect, private or public, total yardage (from back & front tees), any reconstruction or re-design since its initial construction.

*      Staff: If available, include an organizational chart.  If not, provide a listing of staff and chain of command. Include yourself.

*      Average number of rounds played at the golf facility

*      Number of members (if private).

*      Number of member tournaments, Number of outside tournaments.

*      Greens & Tees: Average square feet, type of construction (sand, soil, etc.), type of grass.

*      Equipment:  Record an inventory of the equipment fleet.  Note the manufacturers, models, quantities, years leased or purchased and the use.

*      If possible, please gather annual budget information to include equipment maintenance, labor, fertilizers, pesticides, seed, irrigation, etc. and capital budget.  If this information is not available, estimate and summarize budget information to the best of your ability.

*      Bring back a scorecard and any other literature you feel is important

*      Take photos whenever possible:  course itself, equipment, special projects, maintenance facility, tournaments, etc…at least 10 good-quality photos must be included in your final report. Digital pictures preferred copied on a CD.

*      Finally, feel free to discuss any of these items with your supervising Golf Superintendent or immediate supervisor.

The above information you gather will greatly assist you in writing a final report which will be due the last week of SEPTEMBER 2007.

See the Internship Coordinator, as soon as you return to campus for the REPORT FORMAT, and final evaluation.

Failure to turn in a complete report will result in a failing grade for the internship.
