Advisors of Presidential Scholars
For a general description of the Presidential Scholars Program, click here.
Presidential Scholars must adhere to specific requirements in order to retain their scholarship:
- Presidential Scholars must maintain a cumulative 3.3 GPA during their enrollment at SUNY Delhi to stay eligible. If they fall below the minimum cumulative GPA, their scholarship is revoked until such time as they may be reinstated.
- They must take an honors seminar each semester. A waiver can be granted in specific circumstances.
- Assuming they meet the minimum requirements, the scholarship is granted to them for either four or eight consecutive semesters depending upon their program at entry. If a Presidential Scholar enters in an Associates Degree program and successfully transfers to a Bachelors Degree program while fulfilling the requirements of the Presidential Scholars program, he or she will receive further funding for four more consecutive semesters.
Procedures and policies regarding reinstatement of Presidential Scholar status and honors seminar waivers, please see the Policies Pertaining to Current Presidential Scholars. Each division also has a representative on the Honors Program Advisory Committee. These representatives serve as liasions; advisors of Presidential Scholars are welcome to contact them with any questions.

Proposing HONR 220: Interdisciplinary Studies and HONR 250: Special Topics Courses
The Honors Program Advisory Committee (HPAC) invites and encourages full time faculty members from all disciplines on campus to consider submitting a proposal for an HONR 220: Interdisciplinary Studies course or an HONR 250: Special Topics course. HPAC's primary concern and responsibility is to ensure the academic rigor required by honors-level courses.
Full time faculty members interested in taking advantage of this opportunity should first check with their Division Dean. With their Division Dean's approval, they should submit an Honors Course Proposal to HPAC by sending an electronic copy to Kathryn DeZur (dezurkk@delhi.edu). The full time faculty member will then be asked to come to an HPAC meeting to discuss the proposal with committee members.
Once an interdisciplinary studies or special topics course has been approved by HPAC, it can be offered again without the need for subsequent reapproval. Descriptions for courses previously approved can be found here.
Proposing HONR 290: Independent Study Courses
Full time faculty interested in supervising an honors-level independent study course should first get the approval of their Division Dean. With their Division Dean's approval, the full time faculty member and student should fill out and submit an HONR 290: Independent Study Contract to the Honors Program Advisory Committee (HPAC) by sending an electronic copy to Akira Odani(dezurkk@delhi.edu). The faculty member and student will then be invited to discuss the proposal at an HPAC meeting.
