Honors Program
General Overview

SUNY Delhi offers honors programs meant to provide high-achieving students opportunities to challenge themselves intellectually, to create mentoring relationships with faculty members, and gain recognition from the college as well as potential employers and transfer institutions.  SUNY Delhi currently has three honors programs, the Associate Degree Honors Program open to all students in an associate degree program with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, the Bachelor Degree Honors Program open to all students in a bachelor degree program with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, and the Presidential Scholar Program open to all new incoming students at SUNY Delhi.

SUNY Delhi's Associate Degree Honors Program began in Fall 2009 and welcomes students enrolled in any associate degree program (AA, AS, AAS, AOS) who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher in their college coursework or at their high school if they are entering freshman.  The program offers the chance to engage in stimulating inquiry while working closely with faculty members.  Honors courses have limited enrollment to guarantee quality interactions between students and professors.  The courses provide in-depth considerations of a wide range of challenging topics.

The Honors Program designation on a student's transcript reinforces to potential employers or transfer institutions that the student has not only maintained a high GPA, but has done so while taking particularly rigorous courses.  Dedicated funds are available for competitive Honors Program scholarships.  Students can apply for scholarships after they have completed a minimum of one semester enrolled in SUNY Delhi's Honors Program.

Presidential Scholars Program

Former Presidential Scholars have been exceedingly successful in their endeavors after obtaining degrees from SUNY Delhi.  To see what some of them are doing now, click here.

Each academic year, the prestigious Presidential Scholars Program selects up to twelve Presidential Scholars among new students to SUNY Delhi.  All incoming graduated high school, transfer, and non-traditional students are eligible.  Every year, six scholarships are awarded to the most deserving new students at SUNY Delhi, and six additional scholarships are chosen from the remaining top local applicants from Delaware and Otsego counties.  When awarding scholarships, special consideration is given to specific majors that are annually designated by the Provost.  To identify the most deserving students, the applicants will be ranked by criteria that includes SAT scores, ACT scores, class rank, high school average, and/or weighted high school average.

These top-achieving students are provided with a full-tuition scholarship for four or eight consecutive semesters, depending upon their program and upon their maintenance of at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA.  Presidential Scholars are required to take an honors course during each of their semesters.

To be considered for a Presidential Scholarship, the deadline for application to SUNY Delhi is December 1st
