Integrated Energy Systems - AOS and AAS

Minimum Requirements to be Considered for Admission

Freshman:

  • high school graduate with 75 high school GPA or 2500 GED test score
  • Algebra Regents: 75

Transfer Student:

  • Transfer GPA: 2.3

Transfer Options

This AAS degree gives students the opportunity to either enter the workforce or continue in SUNY Delhi's Bachelor of Technology (BT) degree in Construction Management. This four-year degree program is in a 2+2 format with the AAS degree, so students who successfully complete the AAS degree can apply for admission to the BT program and, if qualified, continue their studies at the next level.

CURRICULUM

SUNY General Education Requirements: Students who intend to receive AA, AS, or baccalaureate degrees must satisfy SUNY and campus General Education (GE) requirements to graduate. Students should be aware that GE requirements may vary by academic program. Consult with your academic advisor. For general information, see the "General Education" section of this catalog.

AAS and AOS degree students may not be required to fulfill General Education (GE) requirements; however, any student who may wish to transfer should complete as many GE courses as possible. Consult with your academic advisor.

Technical Standards: In addition to academic requirements, all applicants must also be able to meet the minimum Technical Standards for the program, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Student Learning Outcomes

A graduate of the Integrated Energy Systems AOS or AAS program should be able to:

  • Demonstrate safe work practices including appropriate use of personal protective equipment and application of relevant work safety standards including OSHA standards.
  • Demonstrate ability to design (including all sizing calculations) consumer-owned distributed energy systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to size, design, install, and troubleshoot grid-tied and stand-alone photo-voltaic system.
  • Demonstrate ability to document energy system designs with the written word, schematic and wiring diagrams, and scaled drawings, all of which must comply with industry standard practices.
  • Demonstrate the ability to install new distributed generation assets in accordance with project-specific design specifications and the National Electric Code.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of utility interconnection standards and techniques as applicable to consumer-owned electrical generating assets.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of electric power system architecture including typical system power flows, methods of system protection, and methods of monitoring and metering power flows.
  • Demonstrate utility operations work practices including pole-top construction, transformer installation, electric service testing and metering, and equipment operation (including bucket truck operation).
