College Catalog Fall 2016 - Spring 2017
At SUNY Delhi, the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and guests is a top priority.
Delhi's New York State University Police Department is the campus law enforcement agency, and its officers protect people and property by providing 24-hour-a-day vehicle, bicycle, and foot-patrol coverage. The University Police Department is located in North Hall and can be reached by calling 607-746-4700, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Accidents, Theft, Vandalism, and Fire
Uniformed members of the department possess full police powers and enforce state and local laws on college property. Nevertheless, the possibilities of loss through theft and vandalism or personal injury also require individual effort to reduce risk situations. Prompt reporting of unusual or suspicious activity, as well as observing campus regulations, are important obligations for members of the college community.
Since the college does not assume responsibility for private losses as a result of crime victimization, appropriate insurance coverage is highly recommended.
The college maintains an active fire and accident prevention program through frequent inspection of college facilities and mechanical protection systems; therefore, all accidents occurring on college property should be promptly reported.
Guests of Students
Student hosts of campus visitors are responsible for the behaviors and actions of their guests. All overnight guests must register with Residence Life staff. Any guest driving or parking a vehicle on campus must register that vehicle with University Police. Students are responsible for ensuring that their guests comply with all college regulations, and reporting any injuries
Traffic and Parking
University Police enforce all New York State vehicle and traffic laws. Limited parking facilities on campus necessitate the limitation and/or restriction of student parking. The SUNY Delhi Campus Traffic Regulations brochure clearly defines vehicle registration requirements and the areas where students may park. Any questions related to campus parking regulations should be addressed to University Police.
Rave Mobile Safety-Emergency Alert System
SUNY Delhi utilizes the Rave Mobile Emergency Alert System. Rave Mobile Safety is an instant notification system that enables you to quickly receive campus alerts, weather delay notices, and emergency notifications through your cell phone, landline, and SUNY Delhi and personal email accounts. All students, faculty and staff have had their SUNY Delhi email addresses automatically enrolled in the Delhi Rave Mobile Safety System.
A copy of the SUNY Delhi campus crime statistics, as reported annually to the U.S. Department of Education, will be provided upon request by the University Police Department, the Office of the Vice President for Student Life, or the campus Personal Safety Committee. Please direct all such requests to the University Police Department at 607-746-4700. Information can also be obtained from the Annual Campus and Fire Safety Report on the SUNY Delhi University Police website, or at the U.S. Department of Education website at Campus Safety and Security.
