Mechatronics Technology (BT)

Mechatronics Design Professor and StudentsSUNY Delhi was the first college in New York State to offer a program in Mechatronics Design, the multi-disciplinary field that merges mechanical, electrical, technical control, automation and computer technologies. At Delhi, you have two associate degree options and our new, four-year Bachelor of Technology (BT) program—the first program of its type in the United States. All three programs are affiliated with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).

With the BT degree, you could start out earning approximately $65,000 a year and eventually move into management. And you’ll be able to choose from a wide range of industries and positions. Mechatronics professionals work on robotic systems and intelligent equipment in manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceutical production, power generation and distribution, mining and other fields.

In the four-year program, you’ll build on your foundation with experience in welding, machining, pneumatics and hydraulics, sheet metal work, advanced design and advanced work with PLCs. You’ll do a one-semester internship that draws upon many of your new skills. Then, based on what you learn during your internship, you will cap your Delhi education with a major design project. Throughout the program, you’ll get two hours of hands-on lab experience for every hour of lecture. And you’ll work with instructors who bring real-world expertise in every mechatronics sub-specialty.
