Professor Ciafardoni-Hawkes is an experienced BSN and NP educator in classroom, clinical and online environments. Her teaching areas include women's health, nursing research, ethics in healthcare, pathophysiology and health assessment.

She is currently conducting research on transgender health care, access and public policy. Her other areas of interest include LGBT healthcare, lateral violence, best practice and cultural competence. She currently serves on SUNY Delhi's Staff Development Committee as well as the School of Nursing's Technical and Faculty Development Committee.

Professor Ciafardoni-Hawkes earned a BA and BSN from Salem State University, and an MSN/Ed from the University of Phoenix. She is a current member of Sigma Theta Tau, the MA Nurses Association, NY Nurses Association,  MA Teachers Association, and the NY Teachers Association, and holds certifications in CPR, NRP, and EFM.
