Sandra Gardner, EdD, RN
Dr. Gardner joined Delhi's BSN program in 2012. She brings years of teaching experience to the program, including RN-to-BSN programs, cummunity colleges, and CRSNA/MSN courses. She has also been a practicing nurse in acute care setting for over 18 years, which she believes has contributed greatly to her teaching philosophy, method, and style.
Dr. Gardner's research interest involve what she describes as "near misses" and whether or not we can learn from our mistakes or the mistakes of others - it is something she believes is vital to examine and understand. She's also interested in critical thinking and specifically what nursing schools can do to bridge the gap between textbook information and application to the practice area. Dr. Gardner earned an EdD from the University of Missouri-St. Lois, an MSN in Adult Health Nursing from Arizona State University, an MA in Counseling & Educational Psychology as well as a BSN from New Mexico State University.
Dr. Gardner is an active member of the Central Florida Advanced Practice Nurses Association and is active in Sigma Theta Tau Research, as well as the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and recently restarted her own consulting firm.
Dr. Gardner holds an AANC Medical Surgical Certification, Board Certified and was a Research Scientist at Florida Hospital Systems from 2008-2012 and on the Board of Directors for the Florida Hospital Nursing Scientific Review (served as past president) from 2008-2012.
