Mrs. Sonnier has been teaching courses in Delhi's RN to BSN program since 2008. She is the Patient Education manager at a 500 bed hospital in Texas, a Licensed Vocational Nursing Instructor, and a Diabetes Educator. She earned her MS in Nursing Education from Walden University, her BSN from the University of Texas, and her ADN from San Jacinto College.

Mrs. Sonnier's research interests include Low Income Populations and Delivery of Diabetes Education; Diabetes Women Caregiver Roles and adherence to Personal Diabetes Management; Online RN Student Collegiality and its Influence on Program Sustenance and Completion; and Marginalized Students' Success in Nursing Programs.

Her clinical interests include Extension of Diabetes Education Beyond Hospitalization in Low Income and Non-Insured Patients; Use of On Demand and Video Communication Tools in Patient Education, Childhood Obesity Class development, Promoting Community and Health and Outreach of Health Education.

Mrs. Sonier is a professional member and advocate of the American Diabetes Association-Houston, TX Chapter and an Advisory Board Member with the San Jacinto College LVN-RN Mobility Program.
