Delhi College Senate Minutes February 8, 2010

 Meeting called to order by Presider, Julee Miller

             Quorum established at 4:16 p.m.

 Senators Present: D. Brower—proxy held by Presider, J. Burgess, D. Dougherty, C. Elston, T. Hamblin, K. MacLeod, G. Miller (for C. Nelson), K. Ogborn, P. Pardoe, T. Philion , T. Rathbone, A. Rhodes, S. Shoemaker, J. Stedman, J. Taylor, J. Tessier, A. Wachter, M. Wake, L. Weinberg,

 The minutes from the January 25^th, 2010 meeting were approved

 President’s Report

• Middle States Self Study Liaison will be on campus 18^th February
• Liberal Arts and Sciences prospective Dean visits on the 9^th; 4 pm Alumni Hall Boardroom; biography online
• Strategic Plan—on Confluence and Delhi Today—please provide feedback to B. Kaplan by Thursday
•  February 19^th—Coffee hour discussion on the budget
• Strategic Town Hall Meeting in Plattsburgh
• Tuesdays—Lunch with the Cabinet; buy/bring your own lunch and chat with the Cabinet members; noon MacDonald Hall
•  Proposed changes to General Education Requirements should lead to increased flexibility and transferability

 Technical Advisor Group

• Merged from form AdTAC and ATAC
• No defined charge from the Senate
• A Senate committee designed to be a voice for faculty and staff, not directed by a specific unit
• Need to redirect and redefine charge and membership
• Advises proposals for technology on campus; need something more prescriptive and less subjective; need areas that will be affected; cost comparisons should be done before the proposal comes before TAG
• Membership should include more members from other functional areas
• TAG chair will be at next Senate meeting
•  Discussion—need to clarify the mission; define the charge; provide direction for membership
•  Motion (K. MacLeod)—have TAG come up with a charge and present to Senate and define membership; seconded (J. Taylor); approved with 2 abstentions (J. Tessier & S. Shoemaker)
• T. Hamblin—each project gets TAG approval before implementation; forum to deal with issues between campus and CIS
• Will work with TAG to write a charge that empowers the committee

• Discuss with functional areas

UFS Plenary

• Will discuss at March meeting
•  Additional information about Public Higher Education Empowerment and Innovation Act available through SUNY and UUP
