 Delhi College Senate Minutes June 19, 2008

 Meeting called to order by Presider, Julee Miller

 Quorum established at 9:12 am

 Elections of Officers

Presider, Associate Presider and Secretary were performed with Julee Miller, Mary Wake, and Shannon Shoemaker filling the roles respectively.

 The minutes from the May 12th, 2008 were not distributed.  Motion (T. Hamblin) made to approve the minutes using e-mail. Seconded (M. Wake) and approved.

 Budget and Planning Committee

            Approval of newly elected member, Willis Brown.  Motion to approve(T. Hamblin), seconded (Mary Wake) and approved. 

 Academic Policy Change

            Change to Academic Policy 1.391 D page 59-paragraph D-changes are underlined and deletions appear with a  double strikethrough.

For purposes of recognition at the college graduation ceremony only, Latin honors will be based on the cumulative GPA for all semesters/sessions complete up to and including the fall semester/session prior to graduation.  For purposes of recognition on the student's academic transcript and diploma, Latin honors will be based on the cumulative GPA for all semesters at the completion of all degree requirements.

The revision of the curriculum for the BBA in Professional Golf Management Program was approved for the catalog term fall 2008 changing the course requirements and the total credits from 130 to 131. Courses will have a new prefix of PGMB.  The following courses will be deactivated as current students complete them, GMBA 100, 110, 150,181, 182, 210, 225, 275, 280, 315, 325, 380, 475 and 476.  GMBA 330, 350 and 400 will remain on the books as they are required at this time by other programs.  General education learning objective numbers will be listed with the appropriate courses on the proposed program grid.

The following changes to the course sequence and/or requirements in the AAS in Architectural Technology were approved:  eliminate ARCH 250 3D Presentation CAD, and the second math course, add 100/200 after the ENGL, add a new course ARCH 135, put COMM 100 Public Speaking in instead of an elective, change one elective to liberal arts & science, and list other electives as Unrestricted Electives.  The proposed grid needs to have the correct names and the GE listings where appropriate.  Other courses were moved in their sequence of offering.  The reduction of credits in ARCH 110 does not affect the total credit numbers.  The following changes to the course sequence and/or requirements in the BT Architectural Design were approved: increase math exit level to MATH 150 - Pre-calculus, remove ANTH 300 Survey of World Cultures as required, change HIST (GE 4) to an unrestricted elective, one elective must be designated as a liberal arts & science elective and change the total credits of the BT from 127 ½ to 122 minimum.  Other courses required for graduation include PHYS 150, General Physics I, HUMN 241 History World & Western Architecture I, HUMN 242 History World & Western Architecture II and COMM 100 Public Speaking.  All these changes are effective catalog term fall 2008.

The proposal to remove EDUC 101 Practicum In Education as a one credit co-requisite to EDUC 100 Foundations of Education was approved. EDUC 101 will be deactivated.

 

New Business

L. Burwood would like the Senate to revisit the requirements of committees under its charge to make sure that there is sufficient coverage and attendance for the committees--would like the committees to be more fluid.
