Aptitudes, Requirements

Off-Campus Lab site, Fall 2002 Admission Requirements:

The basic requirement for entrance into the Carpentry, Woodworking and Masonry program is high school graduation. Incoming students must also meet the College requirements for English and reading competency, and, the incoming student should have at least 2 units of high school mathematics. The farther a person advances in this field, the more mathematics and science are involved.


Aptitude:

Individuals in the building trades generally have a good mechanical aptitude. They are not afraid of physical labor or working in adverse weather conditions. They enjoy working with tools and with their hands. They enjoy putting things together and working with wood. Increasingly, technicians need to be comfortable with looking things up in specification sheets, manuals, and on the computer.
