Architectural Design and Building

THE FIELD OF STUDY

The field of Architecture is an exciting blend of Art, Technology, History, and modern Construction techniques. At SUNY Delhi we offer a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Architectural Design and Building. This Degree is in a 2 plus 2 arrangement with Delhi's A.A.S. Degree in Architectural Technology.  Freshman students apply and are admitted to the A.A.S. Degree, and upon completion, can apply for admission to the B.T. Degree. Transfer students from other Architectural AAS programs can also apply for admission to the B.T. Degree.

Students who complete the Architectural Design and Building B.T. Degree at SUNY Delhi have a variety of options. They may seek employment in an Architectural, Design and Build firm as a Designer, Estimator, Architect, or other member of the architectural design team.  Or, they may transfer to a Masters of Architecture Degree program for further education and eventual licensing as a professional Architect.

Students who complete the A.A.S. Degree at Delhi have similar career opportunities. They may choose immediate employment as an architectural/construction technician, they may transfer to another school for Bachelor Degree studies, or, they may pursue their Bachelor Degree studies right at SUNY Delhi.

Construction Management Option
A Construction Management option exists under the Architectural Design and Building B.T. Degree.  This option exists for those students whose career interest focuses more on the building and construction side of the business, and less upon the design side. Those in the Construction Management option are qualified for middle management/technical positions in the construction industry.

This option is also in a two plus two arrangement with one of Delhi's A.A.S. programs, in this case with the Construction Technology program. Freshman students apply and are admitted to the A.A.S. Degree in Construction Technology, and upon completion, can apply for admission to the B.T. Degree. Transfer students from other Construction related AAS degree programs can also apply for admission to the B.T. Degree.
