I. GENERAL PROVISIONS
A. All the teams interested in participating must have one representative attend the mandatory captain’s meeting.
B. Rosters must be completed and submitted to the Intramural Office prior to the specified deadline.
C. Any team that forfeits two (2) games without notifying the Intramural Director will be removed from the league.
II. OFFICIALS
A. High School officals will be responsible for officiating a majority of the basketball games. There will be a mandatory meeting to go over the rules.
B. It their responsibility to know and enforce the rules to maintain fair play. Rules not specifically covered will be governed by National Federation of High School Rules
C. Captains who fail to show up for scheduled games will forfeit their following game. Teams will receive an additional win if their captain officiates all of their games.
D. PHYSICAL OR VERBAL ABUSE OF THE OFFICIALS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. ANYONE VIOLATING THIS RULE WILL BE EJECTED FROM THE GAME AND/OR SUSPENDED FROM THE LEAGUE.
III. TEAM MAKE UP
A. Rosters shall consist of no more than ten(10) players.
B. A minimum of four (4) players need to be present to avoid a forfeit.
C. A person may only play for one team.
D. ALL VARSITY BASKETBALL PLAYERS ARE INELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THE LEAGUE.
IV. RULES ( Rules not covered will be governed by the National Federation of State High School Associations Basketball Rules
A. Scoring
1. 1 point – free throws
2. 2 points – inside three point line
3. 3 points – outside three point line
B. Free Throws Awarded
1. 1 shot – Attempted shot made, after 7 fouls, player technical foul
2. 2 shots – Shot not made, intentional foul, bench technical
3. 3 shots – 3 point shot not made.
C. The game will consist of two (2) twenty (20) minute halves of running time. The clock will stop for all whistles during the last two minutes of each half. If necessary, a five (5) minute overtime will be played.
D. The double bonus will be awarded after ten (10) team fouls.
E. NO HAND CHECKING IS PERMITTED.
F. Any player that accumulates a combination of five (5) personal or technical fouls will be removed from the game.
G. Dunking is allowed during the game, but those who hang on the rim unnecessarily will be assessed a technical foul. A second violation will lead to that player’s ejection.
H. NO GOAL TENDING OR BASKET INTERFERENCE
I. NO STALLING OR FOUR CORNERS
V. Conduct
1. Physical or verbal abuse of players or officials will not be tolerated.
If necessary, University Police will be notified.
2. Excessive use of obscenities will lead to ejection and or suspension.
3. Any person ejected from a game cannot be substituted for. If necessary, the team will play a person down.
V. Illegal Equipment
1. Hats
2. Bandanas
3. Boots
4. Casts
~THE MERCY RULE WILL BE IMPLEMENTED WHEN A TEAM TRAILS BY MORE THAN TWENTY-FIVE (25) POINTS WITH LESS THAN FIFTEEN (15) MINUTES TO GO IN THE GAME.
VI. SCHEDULE
A. The schedule will be posted and distributed outside the Intramural Office.
B. It is the team captain’s responsibility to notify the Intramural director of any scheduling conflicts.
C. Games must start within ten (10) minutes of the scheduled time. If not, a forfeit will be awarded.
D. Two (2) forfeits by any one team will result in their removal from the league.
VII. DISPUTES
A. All disputes should be settled at the time of the occurrence.
B. If this is not possible, the Intramural director will mediate the dispute.
C. The Intramural Director must be notified within twenty-four (24) hours of the incident. |
