2011 NJCAA Half Marathon National Championships
Jason Phillips and Tim Scudds traveled to Chattahoochee, GA to compete in the NJCAA Half Marathon on 11/19.  Phillips finished 8th in a personal best time of 1:11.37 over the 13.1 mile course.  Tim Scudds ran 1:16 and finished 50th in his 1st half marathon.
11/5/2011 -  SUNY Delhi Men's and Women's teams competed at the 2011 NJCAA Cross Country National Championships hosted at Holyoke Community College.  Both Men and Women earned Runner-up team finishes, marking the 2nd year in a row that SUNY Delhi has had the best over all finish for men and women combined, this earned SUNY Delhi the Pepsi Cup.  The 2nd place finish marks a break in SUNY Delhi's 7 year winning streak.  Sophomore Chris Burnett finished 2nd overall (25:37 8k) earning 1st team All-American honors.  Sophomore Evan VanOsdol finished 15th earning 3rd team All-American.  The women had their highest finish in the last 4 years and were 2nd by only 5 points.  Meghan Visser finished 5th overall (8th in 2010) with a time of 19:25 on the 5k course.

2011 nationals 
Chris Burnett remained undefeated, winning his 7th race of the season and leading the Broncos to a 3rd place team finish.  Dylan Lowry finished 4th overall to earn All-Region honors.
The Lady Broncos were led by sophomore Amber Shortsleeve who finished 5th overall and led the team to a 2nd place team finish.  Meghan Visser finished 6th overall to earn All-Region honors

Men 8k: 10 am
The Lady Broncos stole the show at the Mountain Valley Conference Championships by beating Mohawk Valley Community College by 3 points and winning the team competition.  Sophomore Meghan Visser placed 3rd overall to earn All-MVC honors.  Amber Shortsleeve finished 4th, and Caitlyn Whittaker finished 7th both earning All-MVC honors.
The men finished 2nd by 1 point to MVCC.  Chris Burnett remained undefeated in the 2011 season by winning the Mountain Valley Conference title in 22:28 on the 4 mile course.  Evan VanOsdol (3rd) and Dylan Lowry (7th) also earned All-MVC honors.
Next up: NJCAA Region III Championships @ Alfred State
Sophomore Chris Burnett remained undefeated after pulling away in the final 100 meters of the 8k course at the Rochester University Yellowjacket Inviational.  Burnett's time of 26:21 was 2 seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Kyle O'Neill from Western Ontario University.  The men had a solid day as a team finishing 8 out of 16 teams and beating several NCAA III and NJCAA III teams.
The Lady Broncos were led by Meghan Visser who finished 66th overall with a time of 21:11 on the 5k course.  Meghan was the top NJCAA runner in the field that included 4 other NJCAA programs.

Women's Results
Both the men's and women's cross country teams came away victorious at the SUNY Delhi Weekday 5k Classic held at the College Golf Course at Delhi.  Chris Burnett broke the course record running 16:02.6, the record was previously held by Chris Mason (16:09.5) from 2008.  Dylan Lowry, Ohure Sam, and Evan VanOsdol finished 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively.  The lady broncos were led by sophomore All-American Meghan Visser who finished 2nd overall with a time of 21:28 over the 5k course.  Close behind was freshman Jesse Jacob in 3rd with a time of 21:33.  Freshman Tiyi Boone (Newburgh, NY) had a strong race to finish 8th in 22:21, Amber Shortsleeve finished 11th in 22:40 and Caitlyn Whittaker rounded out the top 5 Delhi runners with a 12th place finish in 22:46.

Chris Burnett won for the 3rd week in a row to stay undefeated in the 2011 cross country season.  Burnett's time of 25:15 over the 8k course is the 2nd fasted time in school history, the 1st also belonging to Burnett from 2010 (25:08).  Dylan Lowry ran a personal best 26:54 to finish 12th.  The men were 4th overall.
Meghan Visser led the lady broncos for the 3rd week in a row.  She finished the 6k course in 23:33 to finish 51st.  The lady broncos finished 4th overall in the team competition.

Chris Burnett led the broncos with an individual victory at the New Paltz Invitational.  Burnett's time of 26:20 over the 7.6k course 55 seconds ahead of 2nd.   Dylan Lowry had a top 10 finish running 27:40.  The men finished 4th overall in the team standings.
Meghan Visser led the lady broncos for the 2nd week in a row with a 26th place finish.   The women also finished 4th overall in the team standings.

Next: Oneonta State Airfield Invitational @ Fortin Park.  11 am
The Bronco's opened up the 2011 cross country season with solid performances at the Oneonta State Early Bird Invitational.  Sophomore Chris Burnett from Bainbridge, NY won the men's 6k race and set a meet record with a time of 18:55.  Dylan Lowry and Ohure Sam had top 15 finishes.  The men finished 3rd in the team standings.
The Lady Bronco's were led by sophomore Meghan Visser. Meghan finished 19th overall with a time of 19:12 over the 4.5k course.  Meghan was 8th at the 2010 NJCAA Cross Country Nationals.

2011 Season Preview
The SUNY Delhi Men's and Women's cross country teams will open up their 2011 season at the Oneonta Early Bird Invitational on September 3rd.  The men return two top 10 finishers at the 2010 NJCAA Cross Country National Championships (Chris Burnett - 3rd, Evan VanOsdol - 10th) and will look to extend their winning streak of NJCAA National Championships to eight consecutive. 
The women have finished in the top 4 the last three years at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships.  With 5 returning sophomore runners the lady broncos will look to be a force in the team competition at the Mountain Valley Conference, Region III, and NJCAA Championships.
