Indoor Track Season Highlights
The Delhi Bronco's Track & Field squad recently concluded their indoor season by sending eight athletes to compete in the NJCAA Indoor National Championship Meet in Manhattan, Kansas.
Men's 2006 REGION III CHAMPIONS (4TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR)
At the indoor Natinals, Delhi finished 8th in both the Distance Medley Relay and 4x800 meter relays. The 4x800 squad's time of 8:11.88 was a season best for the Bronco's. In the Men's Pentathlon, Sophomore Erik Maggs (Ravena-Coeymans HS) finished 14th with a personal best score of 2920 points.
At the Seton Hall Last Chance Meet on February 26th, Delhi had several stellar performances including the following: Adam Wilson (Tri-Valley HS) winning the 500 meters in a personal best time of 1:07.99. Adam previously during the season had established a new school record in the Heptathlon with a score of 4081 points at Cornell.
Scott Gleason (Walton HS) finished 3rd in the 3000 meters with a personal best time of 9:28.77. Pat Branning (Livingston Manor HS) followed up his previous week's performance of winning the Region III Indoor Triple Jump Title with another collegiate win, his season best jump was 12.80 meters.
Region III 35 # Weight Throw Champion, Will Anger (Oneonta HS) also had a collegiate best performance at Seton Hall throwing the 16# Shot 43'7 3/4". Freshman teammate Luis Arvelo (Saunders Trade School) won the Region III 55 meter Hurdle Crown to also highlight the Broncos 2006 Indoor Season.
Women's Update
Freshman Stacie Ann Palmer (Paul Robeson HS) highlighted the meet with a 7th place finish in the 1000 meters making the awards podium finishing in a personal best time of 3:14.51 after qualifying 9th the previous night in 3:18.04. Stacie Ann also finished 12th in the 600 meters in a season best time of 1:42.51. Freshman Krystal Baird (Kingston HS) finished 11th in the 800 meters in 2:30.71.
During the season Stacie Ann had won twice at 500 meters (East Stroudsburg, PA on 2/5 and Seton Hall on 2/26) to qualify for the meet. Her 500 meter best time of the season was 1:22.83.
