O'Connor Center for
Community Engagement

SUNY Delhi O'Connor Center for Community EngagementSUNY Delhi students performed over 23,000 hours in the 2011/12 academic year, some of the most dedicated volunteers in NY!

Our Mission:

The SUNY Delhi O'Connor Center for Community Engagement will serve as a clearinghouse for community service and volunteerism, benefiting students, non-profit organizations, and the citizens of Delaware County and beyond. Recruitment, screening, placement and training of volunteers will be coordinated through the campus-based center. The Center will also function as a resource for the development of service-learning partnerships between faculty members and community organizations, promoting an ethic of civic engagement and public service. The Center will help prepare students as socially responsible citizens, who can become leaders and decision makers in their chosen fields continuing the volunteerism they experienced at SUNY Delhi. The value of volunteerism is promoted through the campus co-curricular transcript, and annual commencement awards for individuals and clubs.

Elizabeth Sova is the coordinator for the Center, and can be reached at sovaef@delhi.edu

Lynn Giles, Helen Caster, Omar Fernandez,  Abby Wallace, Cameron Barry, Jenna Singer and Anthony Carrasquillo are OCCE Student Assistants.  They can be reached at OCCE@delhi.edu.

Congratulations to former Student Assistant Meghan Wallace for nominated for a SUNY Chancellor's Award for 2013!
