1. What exactly is Family Day?
Family Day is a special, fun-filled day sponsored by SUNY Delhi's Student Life Division that has become a much-anticipated tradition at the college. Family Day provides an opportunity for parents, grandparents, and siblings to visit their SUNY Delhi student in their college environment. It's a great opportunity for families to see first hand how their Freshman has adapted to college living or to reconnect with their Upperclassman student.

 2. What is there to do at Family Day?
Family Day presents a broad array of activities and things to do both on and off campus in Delhi. There are a wide and diverse variety of activities available throughout the day on campus, as well as the Village of Delhi's annual Harvest Festival and other things to do downtown. There are special activities for little brothers and sisters, opportunities to get a family photo taken, and many other novel and unique events throughout the day.

3. Exactly what type of activities take place on campus?
The activities on campus run the entire gamut. For the brave and adventurous there’s the full sized, Stars and Stripes NASCAR Race Simulator, a chance to see, hold, and have a picture taken with a giant snake or other interesting reptile. If your tastes run a bit less extreme, then you can take an enjoyable and relaxing horse drawn carriage ride on the upper campus, visit the annual antique car show at the Auto Center, enjoy an amazing sit down The Golden Dragon Acrobats and Magicians of China show.

4. Is there anything special for little brothers and sisters to do?
Younger siblings are an important part of Family Day. They can enjoy the movie “CARS II", a very special hands-on reptile show, or visit the Greek Council's Little Sibs Land and play one of several games especially for visiting brothers and sisters.

5. How long does Family Day last?
You can expect to spend the entire day at SUNY Delhi and the earlier you arrive, the more fun you can fit in! Check in begins and activities start at 10 a.m. At 4:30 pm The Golden Dragon Acrobats and Magicians of China will perform and for those families who wish to stay later, noted psychic entertainer Robert Channing will perform at 8 pm.

6. Why do I have to register to attend?
All families are welcome to visit their students on Family Day.  However, by registering you are purchasing tickets to the delicious Family Day barbeque dinner and obtaining wristbands for entry into all of the day's events, including the evening show.  If you choose not to register, you may enjoy some of the happenings on campus and in the village but you will need to get your meal on your own as tickets will not be sold separately for the barbeque.  Also, if you plan to spend the night please also plan to book your accommodation early.

7. Are there long lines for the attractions?
Certain attractions will require waiting, and others will not. We have made every effort to schedule a variety of attractions, some, such as Dr. Cue's Trick Shot Show (recently seen on ESPN), which run continuously during the day. It is safe to predict that the longest line this year will be for the Stars and Stripes NASCAR Race Simulator.

8. What's included with the Barbeque?
Whether you consider it a late lunch or an early dinner, the Family Day barbeque will surely fill you up. You will enjoy various choices of entrees and side dishes served to you by Delhi Greek Council students. Bring your heartiest appetites and don't forget to save room for a decadent dessert! (Only one meal is included with each ticket and only SUNY Delhi Students with meal plans may swipe their ID cards at the register.)

9. What exactly is the Delhi Harvest Festival?
The annual Harvest Festival, which always coincides with SUNY Delhi's Family Day, is a village-wide event featuring vendors, artisans, and craftspeople from the local and surrounding community. They fill the village's historic green and line both sides of Delhi's quaint Main Street.

10. How can we get downtown or to some of the other events located off campus?
There are free shuttle buses and vans running all day long. They leave from in front of Bush Hall and run a continuous circuit through downtown and to the various other events that take place off campus.

11. And finally, here are a few more hints to make your Family Day more enjoyable:
-Make your lodging reservations early. Local hotels, motels, and B& B's fill up very fast on this special day.
-Register easily and quickly on-line, using the new PAYPAL option available for the first time this year. It's secure and you'll receive an email confirmation. Go to www.Delhi.edu/family now.
-Make sure that your student knows you are coming, and prearrange a place and time to meet up with them once you arrive.

12. Will the Campus Store be open?
Absolutely! The Barnes and Noble Campus Store, located in Farrell Hall, will be open all day from 10 am – 6 pm for your shopping convenience.

13. Is there anything to do on Sunday?
You can enjoy a wonderful Sunday brunch served from 10 am – 2 pm in MacDonald Hall. You do not need to make advance reservations. Family members pay at the door. The cost is $8.50 for adults and $6.25 for children.
