ContentDelhi Cyber CommunityLearn more about the synergy of the Delhi Cyber Community here. Project Update / Notes: The Center for Appalachian Network Access (CANA) donated another 3 access points that have made it possible to implement 360 degrees of coverage. Implementation of the expanded coverage was completed on April 7th, 2004. CANA also donated another 3 subscriber modules. Special thanks to Bruce MacDowell Maggs at the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science who helped facilitate this donation. Work with the Village of Delhi continued through Fall of 2004. Professors Bill Williams and Roger Brain were assisting the Village with an overall business strategy that would be the basis for student to develop a web and email presence for the Village. Political and financial priorities of the Village preempted progress in the fall of 2004. We eagerly await the Village of Delhi resuming this project. Microsoft has committed to a $25,000 software donation to the Delhi Cyber Community. Official requests have been placed and are pending approval at Microsoft. Phase II installations were managed and executed by Delhi students with oversight from SUNY Delhi faculty and staff. The installations will completed over the summer of 2004. The Campus Turf Center obtained funding outside this project and was connected to the Cyber Community. The project has afforded student learning opportunities outside the Information Technology area. Professor Ralph Lazina, coordinated electrical construction majors who wired the interior of the Automotive building and mounted the mast to the exterior of the structure. This afforded an applied learning opportunity for electrical construction majors and resulted in automotive majors have access to the latest repair manuals and Technical Service Bulletins via the Internet right in the garage bay itself. Construction for the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce's E-Center continues to be delayed. Anyone interested in donating to or participating in the Delhi Cyber Community should contact Campus Information Systems. Please note that in order to participate, you must be a State, County, Town or Village government or non-profit organization with line of sight visibility to the SUNY Delhi campus (from roof top at least).
