SUNY DELHI PRESIDENT VANCKO SELECTED
TO SUNY CHANCELLOR SEARCH COMMITTEE

ALBANY, NY … SUNY Delhi President Candace S. Vancko has been named to the committee charged with conducting a search for a permanent chancellor for the State University system.  Chancellor John R. Ryan stepped down from the post last May. Dr. John B. Clark currently serves as interim chancellor.

The committee, which serves on a voluntary basis, is comprised of a cross section of the larger SUNY community and includes college and university presidents, students, faculty, trustees and alumni. The committee will conclude its work by recommending to the SUNY Board of Trustees a short list of finalists. The board will consider the finalists and then vote in public session to name the next SUNY chancellor.

“It is a distinct honor to represent SUNY Delhi and the Colleges of Technology on the search committee,” said President Vancko. “This is a unique professional opportunity to work with my colleagues to help identify the next leader of the SUNY system.”

President Vancko joins: Donald Boyce, student trustee, SUNY Board of Trustees and president of the SUNY Student Assembly; Edward F. Hayden, chairman, SUNY Board of Trustees; Muriel Howard, president, SUNY College at Buffalo; ReiJane Huai, chairman and CEO, FalconStor Software, Inc. and SUNY Stony Brook alumnus; Milton Johnson, president, Faculty Council of Community Colleges and associate professor of speech, Finger Lakes Community College; Alain Kaloyeros, vice president and chief administrative officer, College of Nanoscience and Engineering, University of Albany; John LaRosa, president, SUNY Downstate Medical Center at Brooklyn; H. Carl McCall, member, SUNY Board of Trustees and former NYS comptroller; Enrique F. Senior, managing director, Allen & Company; John Simpson, president, State University at Buffalo; David Skorton, President, Cornell University; Debbie Sydow, president, Onondaga Community College; Paul Tagliabue, chairman, Board of Directors, the Neil D. Levin Graduate Institute of International Relations and Commerce, the State University of New York and former commissioner, National Football League; Gerri Warren-Merrick, member, SUNY Board of Trustees, co-chair of the SUNY Chancellor Search Committee and president of WarrenMerrick Communcations and former vice president for Global Public Policy for Time Warner; and Carl Wiezalis, member, SUNY Board of Trustees, president of the University Faculty Senate and Professor of Respiratory Therapy, Upstate Medical Center. SUNY staff to the search committee include John J. Connor, vice chancellor and secretary of the University, and Aimee Bernstein, associate vice chancellor.
