SUPPORT SUNY DELHI'S STUDENT CHEF OF THE YEAR
May 28 , 2009 , Delhi, N.Y. … DELHI, NY ... SUNY Delhi invites community members to enjoy a gourmet luncheon and help support Culinary Arts student Brianne Slocum in her quest to become the American Culinary Federation National Student Chef of the Year. Luncheons will be held in the Alumni Hall Hospitality Center at 12:30 p.m. on June 4, June 11 and June 25.
Slocum will prepare a lunch that will feature the appetizer and entrée she will present at the National Student Chef of the Year competition in July at the Orlando World Center Marriott. The Student Chef of the Year recognizes an up-and-coming student who possesses a high degree of professionalism, culinary skill, and passion for the culinary arts. Beverage and dessert will be included.
Slocum served as captain of SUNY Delhi's 2008 culinary team, which earned a silver medal at the 2008 ACF National Championship in Las Vegas, Nev. This was the fourth time the Delhi team competed in the nationals. Slocum is the second Delhi student to earn a spot at the national competition for Student Chef of the Year. Last year, Nicholas Hernandez earned a second place finish.
Seating is limited to 20 participants per session. Reservations are required and the cost is $25 per person with payment in advance. Donations to assist Slocum in participating in the national competition will also be accepted.
