Julio Chavez

Julio Chavez ‘18

Culinary Arts Management (BBA)

Julio had a humble beginning in rural Mexico. His parents decided to immigrate into the U.S. so their six children could have an education. With a love of cooking, Julio enrolled in SUNY Delhi’s 4-year program in Culinary Arts Management. He was active on campus and excelled in the culinary program. Julio made it to the college hot food competition team which allowed him to travel across the county. Most remarkably, Julio won the National ACF Student Chef of the Year 2018 title in New Orleans, LA, receiving a great deal of publicity nationally. He graduated with many job offers and is pursuing a brilliant career as a chef with dreams of opening his own Mexican restaurant one day.

Mayerlin Pimentel Nunez

Mayerlin Pimentel Nunez ‘19

Architectural Design and Building (BT)

Born in the Dominican Republic, Mayerlin moved to the U.S. as a child in search of better opportunities. She always loved to draw and wanted to find a way to make a living out of it. After a high school class on architecture, she decided to pursue a 4-year Architectural Design and Building degree at SUNY Delhi. Some of the classes were more technical than she expected, but with support from her professors, classmates, and the tutoring center, Mayerlin thrived and earned her degree in 2019. Now working in the industry with plans to pursue a master’s degree, Mayerlin has made her and her parents’ dreams of a brighter future come true.

Ryan Ali

Ryan Ali ‘19

Cyber Operations Management (BBA)

During his time at SUNY Delhi, Ryan developed from a quiet student into a well-respected leader among his peers. He started out as a resident assistant and advanced to a senior role in his position. He also became actively involved in many clubs and organizations such as the Black Student Union and the Board of Directors for the College Association. Aspiring to make an even bigger difference, Ryan served as Vice President of the Student Senate. Through these experiences, Ryan was inspired to pursue further education for a career in student life or college leadership and credits the support he received at Delhi for his development into a leader.

Brooke LaTourette

Brooke LaTourette ‘20

Mechatronics Technology (BT)

The youngest of five children, Brooke was determined overcome her challenging upbringing and become a stable, financially independent adult. She followed her passion for robotics and enrolled in the mechatronics program at SUNY Delhi, which promised a well-paying career in the in-demand automation industry. A gifted student, Brooke impressed her internship coordinator at a large automation company and was given the lead role on a project and a permanent position upon graduation – a lucrative job that includes travel across the country. Brooke is grateful that the education she received at Delhi allowed her to stand out in the industry and set her up for the future she always dreamed of.
