Funding your college education is a challenge that every student faces. Luckily, SUNY Delhi we have scholarship opportunities that are available to you. These opportunities are awarded through the admission process, after you have been accepted to the college, as well as during your time here on campus. If you qualify for one of our merit-based scholarships, you will be notified through both your new SUNY Delhi email address, as well as your personal address with the amount and terms for eligibility. No separate application for this scholarship is required. Local students from Delaware and surrounding counties with a 90 and above high school GPA are also eligible to apply for the prestigious Presidential Scholarship. This is a full-tuition scholarship including mandatory fees for the duration of your intended academic program. More information, including the application for this scholarship, is available on the scholarship web page. After being accepted to SUNY Delhi, any student is eligible to apply for scholarships through the College Foundation. Instead of filling out multiple applications, we use a general application which will match you with opportunities in which you meet the minimum criteria. This may include your GPA, your geographic location, or even your major. To complete the general application, we ask that you write a 500-word essay of why you chose SUNY Delhi and how your education will assist you in achieving your personal and career goals. We also ask that you include any community involvement, leadership, or extra-curricular activities that may accentuate you as a scholarship candidate. Each spring, the scholarship committee will convene and review these applications. We use a basic rubric and grade the applications on four factors: your academic history, including your GPA; quality of the student essay; financial need; as well as community involvement and leadership qualities. My best advice in order to improve your scholarship application is to keep your GPA competitive, complete your FAFSA as soon as possible, get involved with your community, and proofread your student essay multiple times.
