Plumbing & Electrical Instrumentation
About the Program:  A.O.S. Degree

The first year courses relate to the plumbing trade which install’s and repair water, waste disposal, drainage, and gas systems in homes and commercial and industrial buildings. Plumbers also install plumbing fixtures—bathtubs, showers, sinks, and toilets—and appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters. Pipe fitters install and repair both high-pressure and low-pressure pipe systems used in manufacturing. Plumbers must be able to follow building plans or blueprints and instructions from supervisors, lay out the job, and work efficiently with the materials and tools of their trade.

The second year of the program continues with AC/DC theory, AC/DC motors, AC motor frequency devices, controllers and programmable logic controllers, solid-state theory, electronic control devices, electro-mechanical devices, and other components appropriate to the installation, maintenance, and servicing of automatic process systems, heating systems, and refrigeration and air-conditioning control systems. The use and care of recording, metering, and testing devices are an integral part of the instruction, which is done according to the standards of the National Electrical Code.
