SUNY Delhi Automotive Program Receives Full National Certification

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi announced today that its Automotive Technology program is now fully certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). “We’ve been working closely with NATEF to make sure that all areas within our program are in sync with the latest technological advances in a rapidly changing automotive world,” said David Addison, dean of technology at SUNY Delhi.

SUNY Delhi Faculty and Staff Honored with Chancellor's Awards

 DELHI, NY … Three members of the SUNY Delhi faculty and staff have been named as recipients of the 2003 SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence. SUNY Delhi’s most outstanding faculty and staff members have received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence, the State University’s most prestigious honor—Dr. Lynn Domina, Associate Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Robert Seibert, Associate Professor of Hospitality Management; and Michele DeFreece, Director of EOP. They were presented with their awards at SUNY Delhi’s 86th commencement on May 17. Read the full story


SUNY Trustee Edward F. Cox to Speak at SUNY Delhi's 86th Commencement

DELHI, NY … State University Trustee Edward F. Cox will give the keynote address at SUNY Delhi’s 86th annual commencement exercises at State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m. in the Farrell Hall Gymnasium. “Edward Cox serves as the technology sector liaison on the SUNY board of trustees,” said President Candace S. Vancko. “That’s why we are so pleased that he will be addressing our students. He’s extremely knowledgeable and an advocate for Delhi and the Colleges of Technology.” Read the full story


SUNY Delhi's O’Connor Center Holds Annual Community Service Day

DELHI, NY … Nearly 300 SUNY Delhi students, faculty, staff, and AmeriCorp and community members will volunteer their time to improve the college campus and various sites throughout the Delhi community as part of Community Service Day on Saturday, May 3.  In its fifth year, Community Service Day has become a tradition for SUNY Delhi students and the organizations who partner up each spring with the college’s O’Connor Center for Community Service.  Read the full story


SUNY Delhi Partners with Hartwick College to Offer Credir Courses to Oneonta Workforce

DELHI, NY … Beginning September 16, 2002, SUNY Delhi, in partnership with Hartwick College, will offer college credit courses to adult learners and working adults who reside in the Oneonta area looking to further their education. Delhi College Golf Course Featured in National Golf Magazine

DELHI, NY … The Delhi College Golf Course is featured in the September/October 2002 issue of Links magazine, a national publication devoted the very best of golf, with articles on history, tradition and spirit of the game. The article described the Delhi College Golf Course as a golf destination for those traveling through the foothills of New York’s Catskill Mountains, touting its affordability and the course’s certification by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System.  Read the full story


SUNY Delhi Offers Vacation Package on Ebay to Raise Scholarship Dollars

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi is looking to expand its scholarship fund-raising, so it is turning to eBay, the country’s most popular auction website, to offer an all-inclusive Jamaican vacation to the highest bidder. “This is a great opportunity to attract a wide audience to our college and our fund-raising efforts,” said Joel Smith, executive director of the College Foundation at Delhi. “We’ll reach tens of millions of registered eBay users throughout the world.” Read the full story 


SUNY Delhi Enrollment Largest in 13 Years

DELHI, NY … This fall, SUNY Delhi has the largest total enrollment since 1989. Enrollment has been on the rise for five consecutive semesters thanks to new degree options and outreach initiatives. A total of 2,405 students are enrolled at Delhi, compared to 2,249 in Fall 2001. Enrollment Services reports that the college is well over its enrollment targets for the fall semester, with nearly a 15 percent increase in returning students. Larry Barrett, dean of enrollment services at SUNY Delhi, also believes that this fall is the largest enrollment of part-time students in the college’s history. Read the full story 


SUNY Delhi Enrollment on the Rise for Sixth Semester

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi’s enrollment has increased for the sixth consecutive semester, thanks to the college’s focus on new degree options and outreach initiatives. A total of 2,052 students are enrolled at Delhi for the spring semester, compared to 2,010 in Spring 2002. “We’re pleased to announce that SUNY Delhi has exceeded its enrollment targets once again,” said Larry Barrett, dean of enrollment services. “Our success stems from offering unique degree programs and flexible options for those who are currently in the workforce and would like to work toward a degree.” Read the full story 


Iinternational Pharmaceutical Corporation Awards $30,000 to Support SUNY Delhi Veterinary Science

DELHI, NY … Boehringer Ingelheim, one of the 20 leading pharmaceutical corporations in the world, will award SUNY Delhi $30,000 over a three-year period to support research assistantships for Veterinary Science Technology majors at the college. According to R.E. Stoll, director of toxicology and safety assessment at Boehringer Ingelheim, the company has been hiring Delhi graduates as far back as the 1980s and it is this relationship that has led to the contribution. SUNY Delhi Unveils Newly Renovated Marriott Suitte Industry Partnership Leads to Renovations

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi’s Hospitality Management Department will celebrate the grand reopening of its new Marriott Suite with a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, April 29, at 1:30 p.m. in the Alumni Hall Hospitality Center. College officials, students, faculty and staff will recognize Marriott for completely renovating a hotel suite that serves as a learning laboratory for students in SUNY Delhi’s nationally recognized hospitality management programs. New Vice President for Adminictration Named at Suny Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. … SUNY Delhi President Candace S. Vancko announced today that Barbara A. Larson of East Lansing, Mich. has been appointed as Vice President for Administration. “Barbara’s depth of experience will be a tremendous asset for SUNY Delhi,” said President Vancko. “She’s a talented fiscal manager and facilities planner who is committed to meeting the needs of the students.” Read the full story 


NYSERDA Grant Puts SUNY Delhi at the Forefront of Solar-Electric Technology

DELHI, NY … A $143,000 grant from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) will fund a certified training program for solarelectric installers and put SUNY Delhi at the forefront of solar-electric technology. The new training program will dovetail with the college’s Electrical Construction and Instrumentation curriculum, which prepares graduates for careers as electricians and electrical technicians. SUNY Delhi's New Honors Program Establishes Free Tuition for Best Local Graduates

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi officials recently announced a new initiative designed to recognize, reward and inspire the best and brightest high school graduates from the local area. Called the Presidential Scholars Program, it will ensure Delaware and Otsego County students with strong academic credentials free tuition if they attend SUNY Delhi. “This new honors program reflects our priority of attracting the best students from the region,” said President Candace S. Vancko. “By making SUNY Delhi their college of choice, they’ll receive an exceptional education, close to home, at an affordable price.” Read the full story 


SUNY Delhi Celebrates $1 Million Renovation with Louis and Mildred Resnick Library and Learning Center Dedication

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi will celebrate the completion of a one million dollar renovation project that brings together the college library and academic support services to create a one-stop learning center for students on Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned as college officials dedicate the Louis and Mildred Resnick Library and Learning Center in honor of the primary benefactors of a capital campaign that funded the renovation. Officials will also announce plans to create the Resnick Family Reading Room to recognize the Resnicks’ daughters—Myrna Jargowsky, Sheryl Ronan, and Michele Cohen. The daughters continued the family tradition of giving to Delhi by providing the capstone gift to the capital campaign in honor of their parents. Read the full story


SUNY Delhi Kicks Off its Hopitality Management Bachelor's Degree at Schnectady County Community College

DELHI, NY … Beginning January 22, SUNY Delhi will offer the first of its Hospitality Management bachelor-level courses on the Schenectady County Community College campus as part of a joint bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. An agreement was signed last fall that will allow SCCC to serve as a site for Delhi’s Advance Purchasing and Human Resource Management courses during spring semester 2002, which will enroll 25 students. SUNY Delhi Receives Approval from State University to Offer Hospitality Management Bachelor's Degree at Schenectady County Community College

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi recently received approval for a master plan amendment from the State University Board of Trustees to offer its Hospitality Management Bachelor’s Degree at Schenectady County Community College (SCCC). Following final approval from the State Education Department, students in the Capital Region will be able to take all of the courses for Delhi’s degree program on the SCCC campus in Schenectady. DELHI, NY … Over 800 high school students from BOCES centers across Central New York will attend the third annual SkillsUSA-VICA competition on Tuesday, February 11, on the SUNY Delhi campus. SUNY Delhi Begins Construction on Suite-Style Residence Hall



DELHI, NY … Construction has begun on a 150-bed, suite-style residence hall on the SUNY Delhi campus. The $7 million building, funded through the State Dormitory Authority, was designed by Bearsh Compeau Knudson of Binghamton and will be located west of Russell Hall in the southeast corner of the upper campus parking lot F. SUNY Delhi to Remember September 11 with Ceremony

DELHI, NY … SUNY Delhi will hold a Ceremony of Remembrance Wednesday, September 11, at 4 p.m. near the college’s Peace Pole, to mark the anniversary of the nation’s tragic events and remember those who were lost that day.  Dr. Candace Vancko, SUNY Delhi president, and Rev. Martha Vink, chaplain, will offer words of remembrance and hope. Students and other faculty and staff will share their thoughts as well. SUNY Delhi Unveils New Turf  Equipment Management Option

DELHI, NY … After hearing concerns from turf equipment industry leaders at a campus summit this spring, SUNY Delhi officials are addressing a problem of access for students interested in pursuing a college certificate in Turf Equipment Management. They have created a second non-traditional option in partnership with the New York State Turfgrass Association (NYSTA), which the college will introduce in January 2003. Read the full story

DELHI, NY … The State University of New York at Delhi will host "An Evening in Tuscany" on Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Hall Hospitality Center on the SUNY Delhi campus.
