Honors Independent Study Contract

Honors Independent Study Contract

The Honors Independent Study is intended for research work which goes beyond carrying out clearly specified tasks and which requires some decision-making on the part of the student.  In addition, the independent study should not simply duplicate work available in regular undergraduate courses. Please note: Only active SUNY Delhi Honors students should be registered for an Honors Independent Study.

While most Honors students complete their Honors requirements at SUNY Delhi by taking HONR designated courses (e.g., Public History, Travel and Leisure in American History, Foundations of Western Thought), there are occasions for students to seek completion of their Honors requirements outside of scheduled courses. This is accomplished via an Honors Independent Study Contract. Students may use the Honors Independent Study option only once.

The following contract must be completed and received by the Honors Program Chair no later than 4 p.m. on the Friday of the first week of the semester. All contracts must be approved by the Honors Program Advisory Committee. Contracts received after the first week of the semester will not be considered for approval. Once approved, the student will be contacted by the faculty member overseeing the independent study, who will assess the classwork the student has agreed to complete. When your independent study is completed at the end of the semester, it will be assessed by the faculty member.
