Tuesday, December 13, 2022
  • Dr. Jordan made note of a successful spring registration fair offered by the RAAC. 
  • The Cabinet discussed enrollment forecasting and current waitlisted programs based on applications. Mark Sullivan will look at historical data and melt for these programs. Dr. Jordan will engage the Deans and faculty to examine physical and instructional capacity needs. These will be shared with Chelsea Mathieu to incorporate into the Facilities Master Plan, and Nazely Kurkjian will include relevant actions for the Strategic Enrollment Plan. 
  • Dr. Edwards introduced a few funding models for summer camps.

  • The Cabinet discussed scheduling the Spring Open Meeting and Senior Council. Dates were finalized and will be shared with the campus. 
  • Mark Sullivan shared enrollment forecasting to date. He also introduced a Veterans’ Recruitment Strategy that was approved to move forward. 
  • Dr. Aguirre provided an update on the tripartite committee membership and process. He also shared an increase in calls from families, which is typical at this time of the year. Of worthy note, he is gathering information regarding employees who speak Spanish to assist with future calls.

  • Mark Sullivan shared the final schedule for Accepted Student Days and New Student Orientation. 
  • The Cabinet discussed feedback regarding the Academic Calendar for 2023-2024 and decided to push back Assessment Day. 
  • There was a conversation regarding SUNY’s naming policy. With SUNY Delhi transitioning to D2L, the naming of this virtual space may change. Dr. Edwards is working on this in consultation with shared governance.  
    Dr. Edwards also shared an update on the mission/vision refresh, which needs to be voted on by shared governance bodies in order to comply with Middle States and kick off a new strategic planning process.

  • Dr. Bonderoff discussed UUP discretionary raises, established a delegation of authority, and initiated a subgroup with Shawn Brislin to ensure software needs, accessibility and capacity are addressed at every level of the college.  
  • Dr. Jordan is working with Andrea to schedule the Academic Open Forum and request questions in advance. Additionally, he shared updates from SUNY regarding the evening/weekend nursing program concept. Lastly, a meeting with the program directors is scheduled to discuss program caps.  
  • Chelsea Mathieu shared that budgets should be loaded into BI this week. John Padovani shared a management financial summary. More information will be shared at the forthcoming Fireside Chat open forum meeting in December. 
  • John Padovani is working with Dave Loveland and Chelsea Mathieu to establish a Space Utilization Committee. 
  • Dr. Aguirre shared that a Bias Team structure is underway for Spring 2023. The AOD task force is doing a prescription event in December. 
  • Michael Sullivan is working on creating partnerships with various industries and alumni networks.  
  • Dr. Edwards shared brand new micro credential guidelines from SUNY Administration.

Dr. Edwards provided feedback from the Middle States chair regarding the virtual site visit. She also shared an update on the micro-credential policy, which passed through the College Senate. Lastly, she shared updates on the mission/vision refresh process.

  • The incremental budget submitted to SUNY was approved.  
  • A new concept for evening and weekend nursing programs was discussed. This is being explored in consultation with Dean Deane. 
  • Mark Sullivan met with the ag/tech colleges to discuss enrollment funding needs. Slate software will be used for Accepted Student Days and applications will be loaded starting Fall 2024. 
  • Dr. Aguirre shared information about a spike in student mental health concerns. 
  • Michael Sullivan shared that College Advancement is launching their campaign.

  • Dr. Jordan shared updates regarding Academic Council, Policy Committee, and APAC meetings. 
  • Dr. Aguirre shared information for the week of campus fire safety inspections and programming for domestic violence/prevention awareness month. 
  • Chelsea Mathieu shared a financial summary with a high level overview of revenue and spending by category. 
  • Dr. Edwards shared an itinerary for the virtual site visit with the Middle States chair. She also provided feedback from students about the Mission/Vision refresh. Moreover, assessment meetings are being scheduled, and the micro-credential policy is being presented to College Senate. 
  • Michael Sullivan reflected on a productive homecoming weekend and the Athletics Hall of Fame induction. More alumni events are being planned. Additionally, two new scholarships were created in the last month.

  • Mark Sullivan presented a draft Scholarship Strategic Plan. This was approved by the Cabinet.  
  • Nazely Kurkjian presented the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Project Charter. This was approved by the Cabinet.  
  • Dr. Edwards provided an update regarding an upcoming Mock Visit with SUNY Administrators for accreditation. 
  • The Cabinet toured the residence halls.

  • The President’s Cabinet is reading Dare to Lead by Brené Brown. There was a group activity to examine our individual permissions and needs are to build trust and understanding of one another. 
  • Chelsea Mathieu shared a debrief from the first Fireside Chat budget open forum. 
  • There was additional conversation regarding telecommuting strategies and space optimization.

  • Chelsea Mathieu provided an update regarding SUNY Delhi’s budget with financial management strategies for 2022-2023.

  • Dave Loveland from Facilities was invited to provide an update on the Facility Master Plan. 
  • Chelsea Mathieu shared a three-year financial forecast, required by SUNY. Form 1 deadline is also approaching. 
  • Accepted Student Days purpose and potential dates for Spring 2023 were discussed. 
  • There was a brief discussion regarding extra testing time for ELL/ESL students. It was decided that this should be brought to the Academic Policy Committee for further consideration.

  • Chelsea Mathieu provided an overview of the one-time funding available from SUNY Administration. She is collecting proposals from academic and other units to develop a proposal for SUNY’s review.  
  • Nazely Kurkjian is working on updating committee information on the President’s website.  
  • Reviewed and updated the current Emergency Response guidelines. 
  • Open House dates were finalized. 
  • Prepared for the forthcoming College Council meeting, including action required to approve the Student Code of Conduct.

  • Dr. Bonderoff introduced new agenda templates for the President’s Cabinet and one-on-one direct report meetings. To add, we will be incorporating team agreements into the assessment plan for this year. 
  • Dr. Jordan discussed sabbaticals; two are approved per year. 
  • Mark Sullivan introduced the implementation of Slate software to streamline enrollment management and marketing functions at SUNY Delhi 
  • Merit and Presidential scholarships were discussed to revamp the processes. Additional scholarships discussed included housing, CADI, and Foundation specific endowments.  
  • Dr. Edwards shared the results from the Senior Council Equity Survey and Senior Council meeting feedback from the convening in August. 
  • Nazely Kurkjian introduced reviving the commencement committee for the coming year’s graduation ceremony.

  • Reviewed presentation in preparation for the Fall 2022 all campus meeting.  
  • Budget deficit was discussed. Conversation exploring potential goals and ideas for generating revenue and reducing costs. 
  • Enrollment discussion regarding the optimal number of students, which heavily depends on program caps, classroom space and residential capacity.

  • Define all the strategies and tactics required for success

  • DEI needs to be embedded in all areas throughout SUNY Delhi
  • Recognized the fact that this is a hybrid campus
  • Develop three priorities with confirmed themes for the upcoming August 18, 2022 open meeting
  1. Bonderoff reviewed and discussed the UFS definition of shared governance
  • Edwards and T. Jordan talked about shared governance and how it works in the Academic Program Assessment Committee (APAC)
  1. Potential hiring and recent positions that will not be filled, due to current budget constraints
  • Brislin and A. Brown reviewed seven positions and presented the hiring freeze forms and discussed all the possible options
  • Edwards discussed the vacancy position within the Registrar's office
  • Padovani reviewed his mail center proposal
  • Brown talked about the options in financial services and how to best restructure this department.
  1. Bonderoff reviewed with the cabinet possibilities for the open meeting taking place on August 18, 2022. Need to develop a short list of presenters and focus on some core topics.
  2. At this point, no cabinet meeting will be held on August 2, 2022, due to vacation schedules

  • The Cabinet invited Chief of UPD Martin Pettit and Director of Human Resources Ruth Ehrets to debrief regarding the Village of Delhi, NY, active shooter threat. Trainings will be offered in the Fall 2022 semester for the campus community.
  • Mary Bonderoff reviewed the new strategic enrollment plan. The plan will come out to the campus community by the end of the week in a Delhi Today.
  • Mary Bonderoff explained to Cabinet the details of the Senior Council and Fall Opening meeting, which will take place August 15, 2022 and August 18, 2022, respectively.

  • Mary Bonderoff and Amy Brown updated the Cabinet on the 2022- 2023 budget. The budget update will be presented to the campus community at the fall opening meeting on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
  • Mary Bonderoff discussed with the Cabinet regarding presenters for the Senior Council meeting and what updates we will present to the campus community for the fall opening meeting.
  • Lauralea Edwards will be discussing the three priorities for accreditation at the next three Cabinet meetings.
  • The Cabinet discussed the need for a master calendar for all events on campus. Shawn Brislin is looking at what calendar we could use to post to the web.

  • The new budget process will be based on health, priority, and safety.
  • Michael Sullivan will be meeting with the tech sector presidents and the SUNY Provost office regarding workforce development.

  • The Cabinet thought the end-of-the year meeting that was held on Monday, May 23, 2022 was successful and there has been positive feedback.
  • Mary Bonderoff reviewed the retreat agenda that will be held on Tuesday, June 14,  from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. in Farrell Commons with the Senior Council members. Mark Sullivan will be sending out messaging for the retreat.
  • Mark Sullivan will be working with Tanjia Hynes on COVID communication for the Fall 2022 semester.
  • The Cabinet approved the DEI faculty line.
  • Shawn Brislin and Lauralea Edwards have been working on updating the campus organizational chart.
  • John Padovani confirmed the date for the SUNY Delhi spring open house as Saturday, April 1, 2023.

The Leadership Update Meeting now includes the Deans. Tanjia Hynes discussed the plans for the Fall 2022 semester. The team will be focusing on bringing back students in a safe manner, following SUNY procedures.

  • The accreditation committee chair will be visiting SUNY Delhi Friday, October 14, 2022.
  • The accreditation site visit will be held February 26 - March 1, 2023.
  • Lauralea Edwards has been working with Ruth Ehrets regarding the onboarding process and training.
  • Mark Sullivan is working with his communications and marketing personnel.
  • Mark Sullivan requested the marketing budget for this year and next year from Amy Brown.
  • Mark Sullivan is meeting with John Padovani to discuss enrollment management and marketing strategies.
  • Assessment day will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
  • This week will be a pre-bid walk for the construction of North Hall.
  • Shawn Brislin reported to the College Leadership Team that 66% of employees have completed the security awareness training.
  • Enrollment services will be hosting a Bronco Ready day on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
  • Michael Sullivan reported that there will be an alumni board and college foundation board meeting this week.
  • Congressman Delgado visited campus and toured the School of Applied Technologies and Architecture on Friday, April 22, 2022.

  • The College Leadership Team approved the replacement position for a cleaner for Residence Life.
  • John Padovani presented to the College Leadership Team the enrollment numbers from the last five years and a projection for the future.
  • Enrollment Services will be hosting an open house on Saturday, April 23.
  • Lauralea Edwards is going to be working on the first drafts of the self-study for accreditation.
  • Mary Bonderoff reported the CET responses to the College Leadership Team.
  • The Finance and Administration candidates will be visiting campus in the next few weeks.
  • Institutional Effectiveness is working on their mission, vision, and values which will be posted to their web page.

  • The College Leadership Team approved to fill the replacement position for Denise McLean in Human Resources.
  • The College Leadership Team discussed the nursing TEAS test that would start for the Fall 2023 semester.
  • Lauralea Edwards reviewed with the College Leadership Team the schedule for Middle States.
  • The space study for Bush Hall will resume.
  • Michael Sullivan has been in contact with Antonio Delgado’s office regarding a visit to SUNY Delhi.

  • The College Leadership Team reviewed the UUP negotiations that were sent to the Chief Academic Officers.
  • The new HR Director will be working on updating the Faculty and Staff Handbook.
  • There will be two candidates coming to campus for the Vice President for Communications and Marketing position in the next week or so.
  • The Data Governance committee will be working on the Banner #9 upgrade. Kristy Fitch will take the lead.
  • Moodle schools will be in the cohort #3 regarding Brightspace.
  • HR will be sending out a Delhi Today regarding the severe weather notice.
  • There is a building temperature control issue in Evenden Tower that is being addressed by facilities.
  • When new staff and faculty are hired, the IT department needs to know of any technology needs and a budget needs to be planned in advance.
  • The CADI program budget will be done through BroncoCONNECT.

  • Tanjia Hynes and Jason Fishner are working on policies and procedures regarding the Department of Health’s isolation and masking recommendations.
  • The Department of Health will be working with Health Services on boosters in February 2022 and mid-March 2022.
  • Exempted students will be tested on Mondays.

  • Ellen Liberatori and Mary Wake are sending a proposed grant for approval regarding mental health and suicide prevention, in the amount of $102,000.
  • Mary Wake, Martin Pettit, and Michele Frazier are working on a new peer-to-peer model for counseling and mental health.
  • The College Leadership Team approved a part-time position for the Institutional Research office to work with JoAnna Brosnan.
  • The College Leadership Team approved the replacement of Amanda Calabrese in the Library.
  • The College Leadership Team approved the replacement position for Carol Bishop as the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
  • A Delhi Today will be sent to the campus community regarding the reorganization of the Business & Finance office.
  • Kathy Hibbard will send hiring freeze requests to George Spielman who will distribute them to the College Leadership Team for review.
  • There are six candidates for the Vice President for Marketing and Communications that will start Zoom interviews this week.
  • A Delhi Today will be sent to all those who helped with a successful move-in for the Spring 2022 semester.
  • John Padovani reviewed the enrollment numbers for the Spring 2022 and Fall 2022 semesters with the Leadership Team.
  • Thomas Jordan reviewed the student academic appeal numbers with the  Leadership Team.
  • Susan Deane mentioned that there will be a Health Job Fair held in Farrell Commons on Thursday, February 24.

  • Move-in weekend was a success and students cooperated by showing negative tests results upon arrival.
  • The daily screening tool will be updated with wording that reflects the CDC guidelines.
  • Residence Life will be calling students that have not arrived on campus for Spring 2022 semester.
  • Human Resources will be sending an update in Delhi Today regarding employee testing.
  • Tanjia Hynes, the Health Director in Health and Counseling, gave an update on students who received boosters and those who will need to get their boosters.
  • There is a short lag between the NYSIS system and Medicat.
  • Thomas Jordan is still waiting on the revised academic plans.
