Visa Application Procedure and Entry to U.S.
- Submit Financial Documentation – In compliance with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations, all international applicants must provide proof of funding. Students
that plan to live on campus must provide proof of at least $36,718 USD for a 4-year program and $$33,628 USD for two-year programs ( Cost of attendance per year minus the scholarship). Financial
documentation must be in English and be current within 6 months of initial enrollment.
- The SUNY International Student Financial Statement - This form must be completed by the student who is applying to SUNY Delhi and signed by the financial sponsor (if applicable) and bank official.
- Bank statement- An official bank letter or statement must be provided for each sponsor. The bank letters and statements must show the actual amount in the account and the U.S. dollars equivalency. The statement must be on an official bank letterhead or with an official signature/seal. Attach multiple bank statements if more than one financial institute is verifying funding. If the student has more than one sponsor, a form must be completed by each sponsor providing financial support.
- Affidavit of Support If funds are being provided by a family member/sponsor, each sponsor must complete an affidavit of support.
- Pay your deposit- Once we receive your deposit and financial documentation, we will email you the “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status” (Form I-20). Please make sure that all the information on I- 20 is correct, sign it and email a copy to us.
- Complete the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application (Form DS-160) .
- Pay the SEVIS I-901 SEVIS fee . You will need the information listed on your I-20 and DS-160 form. This fee must be paid before making an appointment for a visa interview. The SEVIS fee is currently $350 for F visa applicants. Please note, if you are Canadian citizen, although you do not need an f1 visa to enter the US, you are required to pay the SEVIS Fee at least three business days prior to your entry into the US.
- Schedule a visa interview with the nearest S. Embassy or Consulate in your country.
- Bring your passport, I-20 form, DS-160 confirmation, application fee payment receipt, letter of admission to SUNY Delhi, and photo (if the online upload fails). Procedures vary by country and other documentation, such as financial information, may be required – please see your U.S. Embassy or Consulate’s website.
