Why does it seem like so many students want to come to SUNY Delhi this year?
SUNY Delhi has experienced steady enrollment growth in recent years. We’re excited that more students and families are recognizing the value of a SUNY Delhi education! With growth, however, come growing pains. This year, a higher percentage of new and returning students are seeking to live on campus compared to previous years. The admissions and residence life offices work closely over the course of the year to help enroll and house students. We look forward to welcoming our new Broncos to campus and ask you to bear with us as we work through some of the challenges that come with increased interests and enrollment. Our goal is to help you get information that makes your arrival/return to campus as easy as possible.

Why was I assigned to a triple room?
During the application process, first year students are informed there is a high possibility of being assigned a triple room. Triple room assignments are a standard practice across all colleges when there is healthy enrollment. During the pandemic, there was lower enrollment which provided the ability to house students in double rooms. With the increase in college attendance, triples have been reinstated.
Are the triple rooms truly able to accommodate 3 students?
Rest assured, every triple room meets building code compliance and can indeed accommodate 3 students. Students should bring essentials to live, learn, and take advantage of activities outside of the residence halls.
How many closets are in a triple?
In a majority of the rooms, there are two closets built in and one wardrobe.
What is the college doing to address space in triple rooms?
The college invested in new furniture to maximize space utilization and comfort.
What if I have a conflict with my roommate(s)?
Learning to share a space is a part of the residential college experience for most students. Have a conversation with your roommates to discuss boundaries such as study time, visitors, using somebody else's things, etc. Resident Assistant's (RA) can help with roommate conflicts and assist residential students with creating a roommate agreement plan.
Has there been communication about limited housing on campus?
SUNY Delhi regularly communicates with students, parents, and families (texting, emails, phone calls) to complete the steps necessary to secure a spot in housing by relevant deadlines for new and returning students.
Is there a waitlist to get a room on campus?
Yes, please submit your request through the following Housing Waitlist Form.
When will I learn whether there is a room available for me?
Colleges experience what is called "summer melt". This means that students who intended to enroll withdraw their application or found a place to live off campus, thus creating room for students on the housing waitlist. These adjustments are reviewed as they are received, and students are contacted accordingly. As space becomes available on campus and off-campus opportunities arise, students will be contacted no later than mid-August. Please check your SUNY Delhi email regularly.
Is there flexibility to request to live off campus?
Typically, first year students enrolling outside of a 50-mile radius of the college are encouraged to live on campus. Some students may have a permanent address outside of the 50-mile radius. For example, if your family has a permanent residence in Albany and a secondary residence closer to the college, you may be approved to live off campus. Requests are approved on a case-by-case basis. Contact the Office of Residence life to discuss this option.
Am I going to be housed at Hartwick College?
During the spring semester, SUNY Delhi engaged with returning students to gauge interest in a potential opportunity to reside at Hartwick College. However, no students will be housed at Hartwick College this academic year.
What if there is no campus housing available?
Opportunities to take courses in the fall semester online or deferring to a future semester may be discussed with an Academic Advisor by emailing academicadvising@delhi.edu. Kindly note that there are several academic programs that only start in the fall semester as they are sequential in nature.
Is there a plan to build a new residence hall?
Given positive enrollment trends, the development of an additional residence hall is being seriously considered.
