  • Aim: to provide support to students by ensuring that their basic needs are met, so that they can focus on persistence, academic success and graduation.

What is The Student Ready Store?

  • Offers non-perishable food, personal hygiene products at no cost to students who cannot afford to buy them.
  • No limits on what students can take.
  • Any student who appears to be having severe difficulties will be offered additional resources for support.

In addition:

  • The Student Ready Store is intended as a supplement and is not a grocery store.
  • On-campus location encourages students to concentrate on academics and being successful.
  • Operated by the college.

Who does The Student Ready Store serve?

  • Any SUNY Delhi on-campus or commuter student who, at any given time, cannot afford to purchase basic necessities.
  • Student veterans whose housing allowance has not arrived in time, or who need to spend their checks on books and other academic necessities, or who are temporarily short on funds to feed themselves and their families.
  • Students with no cash in their pockets when they need a quick snack before rushing off to take a test.
  • Work-study students who have not yet received a paycheck and have no money for food.
  • Students who remain on campus over breaks, when the dining hall is closed.

What’s available?

  • Canned goods and boxed food items, single-serve items for meals and snacks, and personal hygiene products. Gently used career and business clothing can be purchased for $1 an item.

Donation suggestions (Single-serve or other small packaging items)

  • Refrigerated items such as ice cream cups & bars, ice cups, and microwaveable foods.
  • Food items that are low sodium or without added sugar or salt are ideal.
  • Peanut butter and jelly, small jars
  • Ramen noodles
  • Protein bars
  • Crackers
  • Juice boxes, water bottles, vitamin water
  • Packs of nuts, beef jerky, popcorn, pretzels

  • Laundry detergent pods
  • Travel size deodorant
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste

  • Make-up remover wipes

Career and Business Clothing - All items must be washed before dropping them off.
