When and where is Commencement?

The 2026 Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026 in the Clark Field House at SUNY Delhi.

10 a.m. Ceremony for the College of Health, Liberal Arts, and Sciences
2 p.m. Ceremony for the College of Applied Professions

Each ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.

Which ceremony should I attend?

Students should attend the ceremony associated with their academic college and program:

Why is Commencement being held indoors?

Commencement is being held inside the Clark Field House to provide a reliable, safe, and comfortable experience for graduates and guests regardless of weather conditions. 

The indoor venue also allows for:

  • Consistent ceremony logistics
  • Accessible seating and services
  • Livestream and overflow viewing locations
  • Enhanced sound and visibility for attendees

Question Answer
When should graduates arrive and where will they line up?

Graduates should arrive at least one hour before their ceremony begins. Please enter the campus through the main campus entrance; officers will direct cars to the best available campus parking. Shuttles will run on a loop all day, beginning at 7:45 am, to bring you to/from the Clark Field House.

Graduates will line up in tents behind the Clark Field House. Signs will direct students to their designated program area.

Volunteers will assist with regalia and provide name cards for pronunciation.

What should graduates bring to the ceremony?

Graduates should bring:

  • Cap, gown, hood, cords, and stoles
  • Bobby pins for caps
  • A safety pin for hoods
  • A water bottle (bottle filling stations will be available)
Where can graduates get caps and gowns?

Graduation regalia is available through the Barnes & Noble College Bookstore campus bookstore beginning in March.

The bookstore also carries select honor cords.

Students should bring:

  • Cap and gown
  • Hood (if applicable)
  • Any cords or stoles earned

Where should family and friends go?

Guests should proceed directly to the Clark Field House after parking or taking the shuttle.

Seating is first come, first served, and ushers will assist guests upon arrival.

Guests needing accessible seating should inform ushers when entering the venue.

How many guests can graduates bring?

Each participating graduate will receive five tickets for guests.

Every guest, including children, must have a ticket to enter the Clark Field House.

Where should guests park?

Guests should enter campus through the main entrance. Officers will direct vehicles to available parking.

Shuttles will run continuously from parking lots to the Clark Field House beginning at 7:45 a.m.

Guests attending the 2 p.m. ceremony should not arrive before 12:30 p.m. to allow traffic from the morning ceremony to clear.

Is accessible parking and seating available?

Yes. Accessible parking is available between Russell Hall and the Clark Field House. Guests needing accessible parking should notify officers at the campus entrance.

Accessible seating and sign language interpreters will also be available. Please inform ushers when entering the venue.

What is the bag policy and prohibited items policy?

Only the following bags are permitted:

  • Small wristlets
  • Clear bags smaller than 12” x 6” x 12”

Exceptions include:

  • Diaper bags
  • Medical equipment bags
  • Other bags approved by staff or University Police

The following items are not permitted:

  • Flags
  • Signs or banners
  • Noise-making devices
  • Balloons
  • Backpacks
  • Pets or emotional support animals
  • Unapproved regalia or props

These items are prohibited to help maintain safety, visibility, and an enjoyable experience for all guests.

Where can graduates pick up commencement tickets?

On-campus and commuter students

December 2025 graduates, online students, and internship students only

All students must:

  • Show a student ID or legal ID
  • Provide their 800#
  • Sign for tickets

Only the graduating student may pick up tickets.

Are extra tickets available?

If unused or returned tickets become available, they will be redistributed through a ticket lottery.

Students interested in extra tickets must complete the Commencement Ticket Lottery form by Friday, May 8, 2026.

Students selected through the lottery will be notified on Thursday, May 14.

At the Event

Will refreshments be available?

Yes. Following each ceremony, light refreshments will be available outside the Clark Field House.

Will there be photos?

A SUNY Delhi photographer will capture ceremony highlights. Photos will be posted online after the event for free viewing and download. 

Individual portraits will not be taken during the ceremony. Guests and graduates may take their own photos after the ceremony on campus.

Is there a livestream?

Yes. A livestream link will be posted online prior to each ceremony.

Live captioning will also be available on the livestream.

Are there additional viewing locations on campus?

Yes. Guests may also watch the ceremonies via livestream in the Okun Theatre and Farrell Commons.

Both are located in the Farrell Student and Community Center.

Where can I see the Commencement program?

Guests will receive a printed handout with the order of ceremony and a QR code linking to the full digital Commencement program.

The full digital program will be available beginning May 16, 2026.

Guests have the option to order a printed Commencement program after the ceremony.
