Campus Clean Out Day

Campus Clean Out Day

Campus Clean Out Day: Monday, June 3, 2019

Campus Clean Out Day is our annual day to mobilize to clean out storage rooms, obsolete equipment, files/records no longer needed, and general clutter and junk. (Please dress appropriately).

Lunch will be provided in the Farrell Commons from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please volunteer to help clean out a location on campus other than your own department by signing up with Donna Wood (woodde@delhi.edu, x4010). Bush Hall basement, Smith Hall basement, South and Thurston Halls will be cleaned out.

Collection Points for Disposal of Property

To facilitate clean up, extra garbage cans and garbage pick-ups will be provided by custodial staff in each building. Because of the expected volume of garbage that day, please take your own items (whenever possible) to the dumpster located at the Bush Hall loading dock.

If you need assistance, call the Facilities Work Order line at x4020. If you know you are going to need help (e.g., to move a large item), please submit a Facilities Work Order as soon as possible by emailing facilitieswo@delhi.edu or calling x4020.

Please view below for more information regarding PROPERTY DISPOSAL, RECORDS RETENTION, ZERO-SORT, and DONATING USABLE ITEMS

Property Disposal

If you have questions regarding disposal of property, please refer to the Guidelines for Acquisition and Disposal of State Property. If you don’t find your answer there, contact Donna Ackerman at ackermde@delhi.edu or x4025. Also contact Donna Ackerman regarding disposal of toxic or hazardous materials. With the exception of a limited number of items (e.g., computers, motor vehicles, recyclables, etc.), anything which cost less than $5,000 or has a useful life of less than two years can be disposed of with the approval of the Account Administrator for the area the equipment is located in.

If you have recyclable batteries to dispose of, please contact Donna Ackerman (ackermde@delhi.edu, x4025). If you have a large number of alkaline batteries, also call Donna.

Records Retention

If you have questions regarding records retention, please refer to the SUNY Records Retention and Disposition Schedule. For bins in which to deposit sensitive documents for shredding, please contact Kathy Hibbard at hibbarka@dehli.edu or x4580.

ZERO-SORT (and other) Recycling

Zero-Sort recycling containers are located in each building. If the Zero-Sort container in your building is full, please bag it and notify Custodial Services at x4629.

  • Zero-Sort accepts: Paper, Cardboard, Plastic, Glass, Metal (small items).
  • Zero-Sort does NOT accept: Styrofoam, Plastic Bags, CDs/DVDs, Paper Towels, Food Waste or Trash.
  • Metal and Wood are recycled in dumpsters located at Wall Service Complex.

Donating Usable Items

If you have pens, pencils, binders, paper or other useful supplies that students or another office might want, please bring them to the Resnick Academic Achievement Center. (You may also wish to visit the Academic Achievement Center to see if anything you could use has been donated.) Drop-off and “browsing” will be available through the end of the month.

You may drop off books at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Farrell Center to help raise money for student books' scholarships.
