SUNY Delhi Puts Focus on Student Success

SUNY Delhi is excited to share new initiatives to foster student success and bolster academic programs that are in high demand. With the state's historic investment, SUNY Delhi was allocated an additional 1.295 million dollars to transform the college's offerings over the next two years. With the recent campus-wide development of a strategic enrollment management plan, the funding will support evidence-based strategies at an optimal time.

Importantly, the overall retention and graduation of SUNY Delhi students are the driving force for the institution. Acting President Mary Bonderoff has launched a Retention Council to ensure a cohesive living and learning experience for all students. The Council will focus on academic advisement, affordability, engagement, applied learning, and student services. Through the transformational funds, SUNY Delhi will hire new personnel to deliver essential student services. These positions are aimed to provide targeted academic and residential support. To add, the Resnick Library will establish a textbook reserve program to purchase books for highly enrolled courses that impact the greatest number of students and textbooks that have the highest costs.

SUNY Delhi will also pay special attention to enhancing economic mobility in high-demand fields. The college has created an Electric Vehicle (EV) track within the existing Automotive Technology/Mechanics AAS degree. Equipment will be purchased to deliver this much-needed training and prepare New York State for the future. Additionally, resources will be used to upgrade technologies for the Cyber Operations program, equipment for sanitary process piping technology, and strengthen the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs through the introduction of culinary cannabis and cannabis tourism courses.

"We are grateful for SUNY's commitment to expand student success," said Dr. Bonderoff. "It's equally stimulating to invest in academic technologies and labs that complement industry standards. These funds will undoubtedly support our students in receiving quality education and securing employment upon graduation. We are proud to offer many different types of degrees that will improve social mobility. Moreover, we are dedicated to ensuring a seamless transfer experience for those who choose to join the SUNY Delhi family."
