Microcredential Proposals

What are Microcredentials

Microcredentials verify, validate, and attest that specific skills and/or compentencies have been achieved. They differ from tradtional degrees and certificates in that they are generally offered in shorter, more flexible timespans and tend to be more narrowly focused. Microcredentials can be offered online, in the classroom, or via a hybrid of both. 

Why are Microcredentials Important to SUNY Delhi

  • Positions the college for success as higher education evolves
  • Adapts SUNY Delhi to a broader consumer market 
  • Ensures SUNY Delhi's position in regional economic development landscape 
  • Provides alternative revenue that can lead to overall enrollment growth

Development Considerations 

  • What are the desired learning outcomes (MLO's)
  • Delivery 
  • Timing (Online, In-person, Hybrid)
  • Facility needs 
  • Technology needs

Proposal Process 

Credit and non-credit Microcredentials proposals must follow college wide curriculum committee process. Please allow four to six weeks for approval.

Department > School > Curriculum Committee > College Senate > President 

*Final review by the Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development who will submit to SUNY for approval
