Deadlines for Dropping Classes

Dropping Classes

Course drop deadlines are published on the academic calendar.

ALL students must use the online add/drop form in the Help Desk Portal (you will have to log in). Click on the "Submit a Ticket" button and select the "Registrar" category. You are required to speak with your advisor and the instructors of the courses you're adding or dropping. Failure to do so may result in a rejection of the request. 

Dropping Below Full Time:

  • Students who were registered for a full-time course load who will be dropping below full-time status must obtain the approval of their Program Director/Coordinator or Dean.
  • Student Athletes are required to maintain full time status in order to be eligible for participation. If you are dropping below full-time, you must speak with the Director of Athletics before submitting the course drop form.
  • Students using financial aid (including but not limited to Pell Grants, Excelsior, and veterans' benefits) for their program should discuss the impact of dropping below full time on their eligibility for the program(s).
  • Definition of Full Time:
    • Undergraduate students are full time if they are enrolled in 12 or more credits.
    • Graduate students are full time if they are enrolled in 9 or more credits. 

NOTES:

  • Please don't wait until the last minute. 
  • There are fees associated with dropping a course after a certain percentage of the course has been completed. The deadlines to drop a course without a drop fee are specific to each part of term and are published on the academic calendar. Late course drops will result in a $20 fee being added to the student's account.
